Vogelbescherming Nederland (in English: Society for the Protection of Birds, Netherlands) is the national bird protection organisation for the Netherlands. It is a non-governmental organisation, and it is the Dutch partner in BirdLife International BirdLife International is a global partnership of non-governmental organizations that strives to conserve birds and their habitats. BirdLife International's priorities include preventing extinction of bird species, identifying and safeguarding .... Vogelbescherming Nederland is one of the oldest existing bird conservation societies. It was founded in 1899 (under the name ''Vereeniging tot Bescherming van Vogels''), based in part on a forerunner society ''Bond ter Bestrijding eener Gruwelmode'' founded in 1892 whose mission was primarily to oppose the hunting of birds for the use of their feathers in fashion. Zeist
Zeist () is the capital and largest town of the municipality of Zeist. The town is located in the Utrecht province of the Netherlands, east of the city of Utrecht. History The town of "Seist" was first mentioned in a charter in the year 838. The original settlement was located at the present ''Dorpsstraat''. In the late 12th century, a church was built here. Its tower is now a part of the Reformed Church, the remainder of which was built in the 19th century. Until medieval times, a branch of the river Rhine flowed close to the centre of the town. Three mansions were built near the village: the ''Huis te Zeist'', Kersbergen, and Blikkenburg. From 1677 to 1686, the "Slot Zeist" was built on or near the ruins of "Kasteel Zeist", the original castle (donjon) of Rodgar van Zeist.
