Vladimir Vinokur
Vladimir Natanovich Vinokur (born 31 March 1948 in Kursk) is a Soviet and Russian entertainer, humorist, singer and actor. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1989). Early life Vladimir Vinokur was born on 31 March 1948 in Kursk to Natan Vinokur (1919–1995), a builder of Jewish descent, and Anna Yulyevna (1922–2018), a teacher of Russian descent. His older brother, Boris (1944–2010), was an entrepreneur. Career In 1962, Vinokur was involved in the Artek camp, and won a singing competition, with his medal being given by Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. In 1975, Vinokur became involved with the parody band Samotsvety Samotsvety (russian: Самоцветы, which means "''Semiprecious Stones''") is a Soviet VIA band formed in 1971, in Moscow. Kursk
Kursk ( rus, Курск, p=ˈkursk) is a city and the administrative center of Kursk Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Kur, Tuskar, and Seym rivers. The area around Kursk was the site of a turning point in the Soviet–German struggle during World War II and the site of the largest tank battle in history. Geography Urban layout Kursk was originally built as a fortress city, on a hill dominating the plain. The settlement was surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs and rivers. From the west, the Kur river, from the south and east, the Tuskar river, and from the north, forest thickets approached it. By 1603, Kursk had become a large military, administrative and economic center of a vast territory in the south of the country. The new fortress was built under the leadership of the governor Ivan Polev and Nelyub Ogaryov. Artek (camp)
Artek (russian: Арте́к) is an international children's center (a former Young Pioneer camp) on the Black Sea in the town of Gurzuf located on the Crimean Peninsula, near Ayu-Dag. It was established on 16 June 1925. The camp first hosted only 80 children but then grew rapidly. In 1969 it had an area of 3.2 km2 (790 acres). The camp consisted of 150 buildings, including three medical facilities, a school, the film studio Artekfilm, three swimming pools, a stadium with a seating capacity of 7,000 and playgrounds for various other activities. Unlike most of the young pioneer camps, Artek was an all-year camp, due to the warm climate. Artek was considered to be a privilege for Soviet children during its existence, as well as for children from other communist countries. During its heyday, 27,000 children a year vacationed at Artek.
