Vladimir Temelkov ( mk, Владимир Темелков) (born 26 March 1980 in Veles (city), Veles, Republic of Macedonia) is a Macedonians (ethnic group), Macedonian Team handball, handball player who plays for Handball Käerjeng. In 2009 Vladimir was a member of the North Macedonia men's national handball team, Macedonian national handball team which finished 11th on the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship in Croatia and he scored 35 goals. Three years later in 2012 he played on the European Men's Handball Championship in Serbia when North Macedonia men's national handball team, Macedonian national handball team finished 5th. Veles (city)
Veles ( mk, Велес ) is a city in the central part of North Macedonia on the Vardar river. The city of Veles is the seat of Veles Municipality. Veles is the sixth largest Macedonian city with a total population of 43,716 (census 2002). The largest cities in the proximity of Veles are: Skopje - the capital and the largest city of North Macedonia - 54 km in the northwest direction, Štip 43 km to the east, Sveti Nikole 34 km to the northeast, Prilep 79 km in the southwest direction, and Kavadarci and Negotino 43 km and 40 km respectively to the southeast. 2009 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2009 World Men's Handball Championship (21st tournament) took place in Croatia from 16 January to 1 February, in the cities of Split, Zadar, Osijek, Varaždin, Poreč, Zagreb and Pula. Croatia was selected from a group of four potential hosts which included the Czech Republic, Greece and Romania. The opening game and ceremony were held in Split, and the final game was played in Zagreb. France won the tournament after defeating Croatia in the final. Poland took the third place after winning over Denmark. Tickets for the tournament went on sale from 15 to 20 November. For the finals, ticket prices started at 700 kuna (c. €95). Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.
