Vladimer Chachibaia
Vladimer Chachibaia ( ka, ვლადიმერ ჩაჩიბაია) (born 4 November 1971) is a Georgian lieutenant general (2019) and former Chief of Georgian Defense Forces from 20 December 2018 to 1 July 2020, the first to be appointed in this position. His previous top commanding positions included being the Chief of Joint Staff (4 November 2008 – 5 March 2009) and Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces (22 November 2016 – 20 December 2018). Education and early career Chachibaia was a private in the Soviet Air Forces from 1989 until 1991, when he joined the newly established National Guard of Georgia as a NCO. He commanded a National Guard platoon in the Georgian Civil War of 1992-1993 and continued his service in the Georgian army as a reconnaissance and special task force officer. United States Army War College
The United States Army War College (USAWC) is a U.S. Army educational institution in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on the 500-acre (2 km2) campus of the historic Carlisle Barracks. It provides graduate-level instruction to senior military officers and civilians to prepare them for senior leadership assignments and responsibilities. Giorgi Matiashvili ( ka, გიორგი მათიაშვილი; born 18 December 1977) is a Georgian major general and the incumbent Chief of Georgian Defense Forces, appointed on 1 July 2020. Born in the town of Gardabani, Matiashvili graduated from the United Military Academy of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia in 1999. He served as Deputy Commander of the East Command of the Land Forces from 2016 to 2018 and Commander of the West Command of Defense Forces from 2016 to 2018. Devi Chankotadze (Georgian: დევი ჭანკოტაძე, born on September 1, 1961) is a Georgian military leader and politician who served as Georgia's Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces in 2008-2012, and has served as a member of the Parliament since 2020. Vakhtang Kapanadze ( ka, ვახტანგ კაპანაძე) (born 17 August 1960) is a Georgian major general who was Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces from 22 November 2013 to 22 November 2016.
