Viviette
''Viviette'' is a 1918 American silent drama film directed by Walter Edwards, written by Julia Crawford Ivers and William J. Locke, and starring Vivian Martin, Eugene Pallette, Harrison Ford, Kate Toncray, Clara Whipple, and Donald Blakemore. It was released on June 9, 1918, by Paramount Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine, Dick Ware (Pallette) is in love with Viviette (Martin), and the arrival of his handsome brother Austin (Ford) and Viviette's attentiveness to the visitor arouses the jealousy of Dick to such a degree that murder enters his heart. Austin, realizing the depth of Dick's feeling for the charming Viviette, asks Kathryn Holroyd (Whipple), a widowed friend of Viviette, to marry him. When Dick realizes that his brother is not trying to take Viviette away from him, he is both overjoyed and ashamed. Vivian Martin
Vivian Martin (July 22, 1893 – March 16, 1987) was an American stage and silent film actress. Biography Martin was born in Sparta, Michigan and began her career as a child actress on the stage with comedian Lew Fields. Her early theatrical appearances included ''Stop Thief'', ''Officer 666'', ''The Only Son'' and with Richard Mansfield in ''Cyrano de Bergerac''. A winsome and pretty blonde, Martin entered the motion picture industry in 1914. Her first role was in ''The Wishing Ring: An Idyll of Old England'' (1914) for the World Film Company, in which she played Sally, a parson's daughter. Martin subsequently became a contract player for the Famous Players Film Company, where she achieved popularity as a rival to Mary Pickford. Eugene William Pallette (July 8, 1889 – September 3, 1954) was an American actor who worked in both the silent and sound eras, performing in more than 240 productions between 1913 and 1946. After an early career as a slender leading man, Pallette became a stout character actor. He had a deep voice, which some critics have likened to the sound of a croaking frog, and is probably best-remembered for comic character roles such as Alexander Bullock ( Carole Lombard's character's father) in '' My Man Godfrey'' (1936), Friar Tuck in ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'' (1938), and his similar role as Fray Felipe in '' The Mark of Zorro'' (1940). Clara Whipple ''(née'' Clara or Clarissa or Clarise Brimmer Whipple; November 7, 1887 – November 6, 1932) was an American actress who flourished in theatre from 1913 to 1915 and in silent film from 1915 to 1919. She was also a silent film scenario writer. Early years Whipple was born in Saint Louis. Sometime before 1910, she had attended school in Germany, on the wooded isle of Nönnenwerth, at Trier, and at Eschweiler. Hildegard zur Bonsen (born 1889; Prussia) of Göttingen was her classmate and friend at all three locations. Whipple's biography states that she was educated at a convent in Germany and a finishing school in Switzerland. Walter Edwards (January 8, 1870 – April 12, 1920), was an American director, screenwriter and actor. He directed 46 films during his career. Edwards initially work at the Elitch Theatre was as a director in 1896, but he later returned for multiple seasons as an actor in the summer stock cast. "In 1896, Mrs. Elitch signed J. H. Huntley to direct a resident stock company... After six weeks of melodrama, however, and a few unsatisfactory notices, the organization of the company was changed. Huntley, who was not very popular with audiences or with newspaper reviewers, was replaced by Walter Edwards." On July 12, 1896, Edwards started as director and his first play was J. K.
