Viveash, Western Australia
Viveash is an eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, in the City of Swan. It was named after Samuel Waterman Viveash, the owner of the land in this area in the 1840s. He came to the Swan River Colony on ''Britomart'', which sailed from Spithead on 3 July 1838 and arrived at Fremantle on 5 December 1838, and took up land in the Avon Land District. A copy of Viveash's diaries for the period 1838 to 1851 can be accessed at the University of Western Australia Library. The suburban area of Viveash was developed by Midland Brick Midland Brick supplies building and construction materials including bricks, concrete blocks, pavers, retaining walls, roof tiles and stone cladding. History The division was proclaimed at a redistribution of Western Australia's electoral divisions on 20 November 2000, and first contested at the 2001 federal election. Swan River Colony
The Swan River Colony, also known as the Swan River Settlement, or just Swan River, was a British colony established in 1829 on the Swan River, in Western Australia. This initial settlement place on the Swan River was soon named Perth, and it became the capital city of Western Australia. The name was a ''pars pro toto'' for Western Australia. On 6 February 1832 the colony was renamed the Colony of Western Australia, when the colony's founding lieutenant-governor, Captain James Stirling, belatedly received his commission. Spithead is an area of the Solent and a roadstead off Gilkicker Point in Hampshire, England. It is protected from all winds except those from the southeast.
