Vitālijs Smirnovs
Vitālijs Smirnovs (born 28 June 1986) is a Latvian footballer, who currently plays as central defender for FK Spartaks Jūrmala. Club career Skonto Riga As a youth player, Smirnovs played for JFC Skonto and was taken to the first team in 2004, right away becoming a champion of Latvian Higher League. In his debut season he made just one league appearance for Skonto Riga, and during the next three seasons his playing time did not increase much as Smirnovs appeared two times in the league during the 2005 season and 4 times during 2007. His chance with a considerably increasing playing time came in 2008, when Smirnovs made 16 league appearances. By 2009 he had already become a persistent first-eleven player, appearing in 25 league matches and being voted the best centre-back of the season alongside Tomas Tamošauskas, Deniss Ivanovs and David Gamezardashvili. Jūrmala
Jūrmala (; "seaside") is a state city in Latvia, about west of Riga. Jūrmala is a resort town stretching and sandwiched between the Gulf of Riga and the Lielupe River. It has a stretch of white-sand beach, and a population of 49,325 in 2019, making it the fifth-largest city in Latvia. While Latvia was part of the Soviet Union, Jūrmala was a favorite holiday-resort and tourist destination for high-level Communist Party officials, particularly Leonid Brezhnev and Nikita Khrushchev. Tomas Tamošauskas
Tomas Tamošauskas (born 22 May 1983) is a Lithuanian football manager and a former midfielder. Club career Tamošauskas began his career at Banga Gargždai in 2000. In 2001, he moved to FK Atlantas where he scored the club's consolation goal in their UEFA Cup 2002-03 qualifying round match against Bulgarian club, PFC Litex Lovech which they lost 3–1. He then moved to Russia to play for Dynamo Moscow in 2003 where he made just one league appearance and played mostly reserve team football. On 10 February 2005 he moved back to Lithuania with FBK Kaunas on loan from Dynamo Moscow. In 2006, he moved to Latvia to play for Liepājas Metalurgs. On 16 August 2007 he scored the winning goal for Metalurgs in their 3–2 win over Swedish club, AIK in their 2007-08 UEFA Cup second qualifying round match. The Latvian Football Cup () is the main knockout cup competition in Latvian football. Since 2021, its full name is Responsible Game Latvian Football Cup (''Atbildīgas spēles Latvijas kauss'') due to the sponsorship by sports betting company William Hill. The tournament was launched in 1937, replacing the previous knockout tournament – the Riga Football Cup. The competition is a knockout (single elimination) tournament. Baltic League
The Baltic League (officially known as the Triobet Baltic League) was a Baltic men's football club tournament held four times between the top club sides from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Launched in 2007 inspired by the now defunct Scandinavian tournament Royal League and by the Baltic Basketball League.
