Vitaly Eliseyev
Vitali Mikhaylovich Eliseev (russian: Виталий Михайлович Елисеев, born 26 February 1950) is a retired Russian rower who had his best achievements in the coxless fours, together with Valeriy Dolinin, Aleksandr Kulagin and Aleksey Kamkin. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. Aleksey Dmitrievich Kamkin (russian: Алексей Дмитриевич Камкин, born 15 October 1952) is a retired Russian rower who had his best achievements in the coxless fours, together with Valeriy Dolinin, Aleksandr Kulagin and Vitaly Eliseyev. In this event they won a world title in 1981 and silver medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics and 1982 World Rowing Championships. After retiring from competition Kamkin worked as a rowing coach at the national level. Between 1984 and 1991 he coached the Soviet Army team and prepared two national champions. Rowing, sometimes called crew in the United States, is the sport of racing boats using oars. It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. Rowing is divided into two disciplines: sculling and sweep rowing. In sculling, each rower holds two oars—one in each hand, while in sweep rowing each rower holds one oar with both hands. There are several boat classes in which athletes may compete, ranging from single sculls, occupied by one person, to shells with eight rowers and a coxswain, called eights.
