Visual Karma (Body, Mind And Soul)
''Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul)'' is the first live album by Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil, that was released in November 2008. The DVD is retrospective of all things from the band's "Karmacode" album cycle, the set features concerts filmed at Germany's Wacken Festival and at the Japanese Loudpark Festival in 2007. It includes a lot of extras like promo videos and Behind-the-scenes. The DVD was released in 2 disc Standard Edition and 4 Disc Limited Edition (Europe only) that includes a 5.1 mix of the "Karmacode" album on DVD Audio and a bonus CD with the Wacken Open Air audio live material. Promotion In November and December 2008, Lacuna Coil toured in Europe as the main support for act Bullet for my Valentine, with Bleeding Through and Black Tide also supporting. Lacuna Coil
Lacuna Coil is an Italian gothic metal band from Milan. Since their formation in 1994, the group has had two name changes, being previously known as Sleep of Right and Ethereal, and they have recorded nine studio albums, two extended plays, two live albums, two compilation albums, one video album, and sixteen singles and music videos. Inspired by the combination of Gothic aesthetics, gothic imagery and music, the members have been known, musically, for composing mid-tempo songs consisting of prominent guitar lines and contrasting dual female/male vocal harmonies to help create a melodic, detached sound. Much of the band's recent material, however, sees a heavier and more down-tuned style, featuring a more distinct bass line and a higher mixing of the guitars within the songs. The single was scheduled to be released on 4 May 2007, but it was delayed a week, eventually being released on 11 May 2007, exclusively in the bands native country of Italy. It was a Top 30 Active Rock single on the Billboard Charts. The video was on "hot rotation" on MTV Italy and received significant airplay on American music channels such as MTV on T-Minus Rock and MTV2 on ''Headbangers Ball''. Lyrically, the song delves into denying and forgetting one's past by creating a new truth as time goes by. The song is somewhat different in sound compared to the band's typical work as it features a more profound Asian influence. ''Heaven's a Lie'' is the first single by Lacuna Coil from their album ''Comalies''. Although frequently labeled as an anti-religion song, the song's namesake was not intended to be interpreted literally. In an interview with HighWireDaze.com, leading vocalist Cristina Scabbia explained the meaning of the song; the word "heaven" is a metaphor for a "perfect life". When the phrase "your heaven's a lie" is used, it is referring to people who try to force their opinions on others. Co-vocalist Andrea Ferro refers to this theme at their concerts as a song about freedom of ideas. Amidst the single's newfound popularity in late 2003, the group performed an acoustic version of "Heaven's a Lie" during an edition of ''Headbangers Ball''.
