Vision Of Love
"Vision of Love" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey for her Mariah Carey (album), eponymous debut studio album (1990). It was written by Carey and Ben Margulies. After being featured on Carey's demo tape for Columbia Records, the song was re-recorded and produced by Rhett Lawrence and Narada Michael Walden. The song features a slow-dance theme tempo and backing vocals sung by Carey herself, and introduces her usage of the whistle register. The lyric of the song represents her past life filled with "alienation" and how she had dreamt of achieving her triumph over adversity up to the moment when it finally came to fruition as the "vision of love" that she had always believed in, despite everything that she has had to deal with in life. This was Carey's debut record and was released as the lead single from ''Mariah Carey'' on May 15, 1990 by Columbia Records. "Vision of Love" received universal acclaim from the music critics. While the song's production wa ...

Gibson is the sole songwriter on all of her singles to reach the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. She was recognized by ASCAP as Songwriter of the Year, along with Bruce Springsteen, in 1989. Greatest Hits (Mariah Carey Album)
''Greatest Hits'' is the second greatest hits album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released in the United States on December 4, 2001, by Columbia Records. It is a greatest hits double album: CD 1 is primarily a collection of Carey's hits from 1990 to 1995, while CD 2 is primarily a collection of hits from 1995 to 2000. In 2011, the album was re-issued outside the US with the same track listing, titled ''The Essential Mariah Carey''. Content Carey had previously released the compilation album '' #1's'' (1998), but the release of her ''Greatest Hits'' album was a contractual agreement beyond her control, since she had left Columbia Records and had moved on to Virgin Records. The idea of a greatest hits album was part of a four-album agreement between Columbia Records and Carey to terminate her contract with them. The album had little creative input from Carey and there are no personal messages within its liner notes, unlike ''#1's''. All tracks from the previous albu ...

Despite this, the album became a worldwide commercial success. It debuted at number four on the ''Billboard'' 200, topped the charts in Japan, Greece, Malaysia and Taiwan; and reached the top-ten throughout almost every major worldwide music market.
