Vision (IRC)
Vision is an Internet Relay Chat, IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client for BeOS. Vision is a free software, FOSS, and its source code is distributed and developed under the Mozilla Public License. The community is encouraged to contribute to the project. Vision is the main IRC application in Haiku and IRC channels contribute the most in the development of Haiku. Development Discussions and other queries are discussed in these channels. Vision is bundled with Haiku and the Haiku version is set up in such a way that it automatically connects to the development channel when executed. Design The main goal of the team was to create a fast and elegant IRC to make it easy to chat, discuss and solve queries. The network, settings, and preferences can be customized on the ''setup screen''. C (programming Language)
C (''pronounced like the letter c'') is a General-purpose language, general-purpose computer programming language. It was created in the 1970s by Dennis Ritchie, and remains very widely used and influential. By design, C's features cleanly reflect the capabilities of the targeted CPUs. BeOS
BeOS is an operating system for personal computers first developed by Be Inc. in 1990. It was first written to run on BeBox hardware. BeOS was positioned as a multimedia platform that could be used by a substantial population of desktop users and a competitor to Classic Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. It was ultimately unable to achieve a significant market share, and did not prove commercially viable for Be Inc. The company was acquired by Palm Inc. Today BeOS is mainly used, and derivatives developed, by a small population of enthusiasts. Haiku (operating System)
Haiku is a free and open-source operating system application level compatible with the discontinued BeOS. Its development began in 2001, and the operating system became self-hosting in 2008. The first alpha release was made in September 2009, and the last was November 2012; the first beta was released in September 2018, followed by beta 2 in June 2020, beta 3 in July 2021. The fourth beta was released on December 23, 2022, still keeping BeOS 5 compatibility in its x86 32-bit images, with much increased number of modern drivers, GTK3 apps and Wine ported, as well as Xlib (X11) and Wayland compatibility layers. Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a text-based chat system for instant messaging. IRC is designed for group communication in discussion forums, called ''channels'', but also allows one-on-one communication via private messages as well as chat and data transfer, including file sharing. Internet Relay Chat is implemented as an application layer protocol to facilitate communication in the form of text. The chat process works on a client–server networking model.
