Vishnupuram Award
Vishnupuram Award is a literary award instituted by '' Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam'', the literary organization created by writer Jeyamohan and his readers. The award was named after the writer's famous novel in Tamil, ''Vishnupuram''. This award was initiated to honour the under-recognized pioneers and senior writers in Tamil literature. This contains cash award of Rs 1,00,000 and a memento, a book on the author will be published and a documentary on the awardee release during the occasion. Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam
Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam ( ta, விஷ்ணுபுரம் இலக்கிய வட்டம்) is a literary organization created by Tamil writer Jeyamohan and his readers and fans. It is named after his noted work Vishnupuram. It is currently based out of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India and is being coordinated by K.V.Arangasamy. It awards the Vishnupuram Award every year. Purpose The Vattam was created in 2009 with the purpose of promoting quality literature among the Tamil community in the world and to create attention for high quality writing and writers. To that effect, the organization periodically conducts literary meetups, seminars, conferences and informal gatherings to discuss literary works and other arts. Coimbatore
Coimbatore, also spelt as Koyamputhur (), sometimes shortened as Kovai (), is one of the major metropolitan cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Poomani
Poomani (born 1947) is an Indian writer and novelist. He won the Sahitya Akademi award in 2014 in the Tamil language category for his novel Agnaadi. Life and works Poomani was born in 1947 into a family of marginal farmers in Andipatti, a village near Kovilpatti. In his youth, Poomani was enchanted by the stories he heard around him growing up, as told by his mother and in his community. As a young man, the works of Ki. Rajanarayanan, a senior writer from Kovilpatti, inspired Poomani to take up writing. According to Poomani, KiRa combined in his writing "the scent of the soil with the natural flow of life's energies to enable the writing to develop its own traits, instead of borrowing from other models". He was also influenced by P. Kesavadev's Malayalam novel, ''Ayalkar'', published in English as ''The Neighbours'' (1979). Raj Gauthaman
Raj Gauthaman is a leading Tamil intellectual who pioneered new approaches to Tamil cultural and literary history studies in the late 20th century. He has authored twenty research works that analyze the development of Tamil culture from ancient to modern periods with a focus on subaltern Dalit perspectives. He has also written three novels and translated Sanskrit works into Tamil. Raj Gauthaman was a part of the core group of writers and thinkers, many of whom were Dalits, which shaped the thinking of the influential journal, ''Nirapirikai'' in the early 1990s. Vikramadityan
Vikramadityan (born 25 September 1947) is a Tamil poet from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He has published 16 volumes of poetry, two short-story collections, and 7 anthologies of essays. He is the recipient of the 2021 Vishnupuram Award. Life and career Vikramadityan's given name is Nambirajan. He was born and brought up in the Kallathi Mudukku street area of Tirunelveli town. He adopted an itinerant lifestyle early on and has lived in Kutralam,Tenkasi and Chennai. He is married and has two sons. Vikramadityan took up various kinds of jobs as he grew up.
