Violet Hopkins
Violet Hopkins is an American painter. She holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia. Hopkins work often draws inspiration from found images of the natural and scientific world, using ink, pencil and paint to transform them into color-rich, dynamic scenes that incorporate both abstract and figurative elements. Amra Brooks, in Artforum called her 2006 "Chromatophoric" exhibition at David Kordansky Gallery, "magical." An exhibition in New York 2009 was based around the 1977 Voyager space program. ''Time Out'' concluded that "Violet Hopkins's latest paintings won't blow your mind... uther project acknowledges art's challenge to interact with a vast, ever-changing world." David Kordansky Gallery is an art gallery established in Los Angeles's Chinatown neighborhood in 2003. History The gallery was founded by David Kordansky, a former conceptual and performance artist, in a space on Bernard Street in L.A.’s Chinatown neighborhood. In 2008, the gallery opened its main location in Culver City and, in 2014, expanded to Los Angeles's Mid-City district where it tripled its size to more than 20,000 square feet. Voyager Program
The Voyager program is an American scientific program that employs two robotic interstellar probes, ''Voyager 1'' and ''Voyager 2''. They were launched in 1977 to take advantage of a favorable alignment of Jupiter and Saturn, to Flyby (spaceflight), fly near them while collecting data for transmission back to Earth. After launch the decision was taken to send ''Voyager 2'' near Uranus and Neptune to collect data for transmission back to Earth. As of 2022, the Voyagers are still in operation past the outer boundary of the heliosphere in interstellar space.
