Violaine Blétry-de Montmollin is a Swiss politician, accountant, and estate manager. She served as the president of the Canton of Neuchâtel's branch of The Liberals (Switzerland), FDP.The Liberals from 2009 to 2011. Since 2016, Blétry-de Montmollin has served on the Neuchâtel Town Council and held the offices of Vice President and President. Biography Blétry-de Montmollin was born in Auvernier, Canton of Neuchâtel, Neuchâtel into a family of Swiss nobility, and grew up on her family's vineyard there. She is the daughter of Pierre de Montmollin, a winemaker and politician who served as the president of the Grand Council of Neuchâtel. She was active in commune life while a student, and served as a class delegate at her school. She graduated with a degree in economics and became a liberal politician at the age of 25. Raphaël Comte (born 28 September 1979) is a Swiss lawyer and politician. He has served as a member of the Council of States from 1 March 2010 to 1 December 2019, and was its president from 2015 to 2016. A member of the Swiss delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2012, Comte serves as member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights and the Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media. The Council of States (german: Ständerat, french: Conseil des États, it, Consiglio degli Stati, rm, Cussegl dals Stadis) is the upper house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, with the National Council being the lower house. It comprises 46 members. Twenty of the country's cantons are represented by two Councillors each. Six cantons, traditionally called "half cantons", are represented by one Councillor each for historical reasons. These are Obwalden, Nidwalden, Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden. The Councillors serve for four years, and are not bound in their vote to instructions from the cantonal authorities. The Federal Council (german: Bundesrat; french: Conseil fédéral; it, Consiglio federale; rm, Cussegl federal) is the executive body of the federal government of the Swiss Confederation and serves as the collective head of state and government of Switzerland. It meets in the west wing of the Federal Palace in Bern. While the entire Federal Council is responsible for leading the federal administration of Switzerland, each Councillor heads one of the seven federal executive departments.
