180px, Logo used from 1982 to 1996 Vintage Television (VTV) (officially known as Vintage Enterprises, Inc. and mostly known as Vintage Sports) was a Philippine media company and was best known as the TV coverage partner of Philippine Basketball Association from 1982 to 1999. It was acquired by Philippine media giant Viva Entertainment in late 1999. It was also famed for its weekly boxing show called '' Blow by Blow'' during the 1990s, which began the popularity of professional boxer eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. History In 1978, Vintage Enterprises was founded by the brothers Carlos "Bobong" Vélez and Ricky Vélez. Its first major program was the coverage of the Philippine Basketball Association games in 1982. The games were initially aired at City2 Television from 1982 to 1983, then transferred to the Maharlika Broadcasting System in 1984. Vintage, in winemaking, is the process of picking grapes and creating the finished product—wine (see Harvest (wine)). A vintage wine is one made from grapes that were all, or primarily, grown and harvested in a single specified year. In certain wines, it can denote quality, as in Port wine, where Port houses make and declare vintage Port in their best years. From this tradition, a common, though not strictly correct, usage applies the term to any wine that is perceived to be particularly old or of a particularly high quality. Most countries allow a vintage wine to include a portion of wine that is not from the year denoted on the label. In Chile and South Africa, the requirement is 75% same-year content for vintage-dated wine. In Australia, New Zealand, and the member states of the European Union, the requirement is 85%.
