Vinetastraße is a Berlin U-Bahn station in the Pankow district, located on the . It was opened in 1930, and for decades was the northern terminus of the U2, until the line was extended to the Pankow S-Bahn station in 2000. Pankow () is the most populous and the second-largest borough by area of Berlin. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. Vineta (sometimes ''Wineta'') is the name of a mythical city at the southern coast of the Baltic Sea.
