Vindafjord is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Rogaland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Haugaland. Since 2005, the administrative centre of the municipality has been the village of Ølensjøen (prior to that time it was the village of Sandeid). Other villages in the municipality include Bjoa, Imslandsjøen, Ølensvåg, Skjold, Rogaland, Skjold, Vats, Rogaland, Vats, Vikebygd, and Vikedal. The municipality is centered on the Vindafjorden and Sandeidfjorden in the east and it lies north and east of the Skjoldafjorden in the west. The municipality is the 186th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Vindafjord is the 122nd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 8,775. Sandeid
Sandeid is a village in Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located at the head of the Sandeidfjorden, about northwest of the village of Vikedal and about south of the village of Ølensjøen. The village has a population (2019) of 664 and a population density of . Sandeid has a slaughterhouse, sand pits, and a cement factory. Sandeid Church is also located in the village. History The village was the administrative centre for many years. It was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Sandeid (municipality), Sandeid from 1923 until 1965 when Sandeid was merged into Vindafjord municipality. Ølensjøen or Ølen is the administrative centre of Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located at the southern end of the Ølsfjorden, along the European route E134 highway, just east of the village of Ølensvåg. The village has a population (2019) of 1,259 and a population density of . It is the largest urban area in the municipality. Ølensjøen is the regional center for commerce for the inner part of the Haugalandet area. It has a secondary school, sports club, and a public swimming pool. Ølen
Ølen is a former municipality in the Vestlandet region of Norway. The municipality existed from 1916 until 2006, and originally it was a part of Hordaland county, but in 2002 it was transferred to Rogaland county prior to its dissolution in 2006. The municipality was located on the south side of the Bjoafjorden and east of the Ålfjorden. The administrative center of Ølen was the village of Ølensjøen. The municipality of Ølen makes up the northern part of the present-day Vindafjord Municipality in Rogaland county. Vindafjorden
Vindafjorden ( en, Vinde Fjord or Vinda Fjord) is a fjord in Rogaland county, Norway. The long fjord is a northern branch off of the main Boknafjorden. The fjord marks the municipal boundaries between Vindafjord, Suldal, and Tysvær. The fjord initially runs from the very narrow ''Ropeid'' isthmus to the west and near the village of Vikadal, the fjord heads to the south before emptying into the Boknafjorden near the village of Nedstrand. There are two smaller fjords which branch off of the Vindafjorden. They are the Sandeidfjorden (to the north) and the Yrkjefjorden (to the west). The deepest part of the fjord reaches about below sea level, just off the shore from Imsland Church. Bjoa
Bjoa is a village in Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located along the coast of the Bjoafjorden, just across the fjord from the island of Borgundøya. The village has a kindergarten and an elementary school, serving the northern portion of Vindafjord municipality. Bjoa is the site of a large blueberry farm as well as several companies such as Tveit Maskin AS and T.Sandsgård Anlegg AS. The headquarters of Granberg AS is also located in Innbjoa. Granberg is the biggest import company in Norway for Gloves. Bjoa Church is also located in the village. Gråhorga or Gråhorjo is the tallest mountain in the area, at 740m (2,100ft) above sea level. Imsland
Imsland is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1923 until its dissolution in 1965. The municipality included the area surrounding the inner part of the Vindafjorden in the present-day municipalities of Suldal and Vindafjord. The administrative centre of Imsland was the village of Imslandsjøen where Imsland Church is located. Haugaland
Haugaland or Haugalandet is a traditional district situated on the western coast of Norway. Haugaland is one of the 15 traditional districts located within the Vestlandet region. Geographically, Haugaland is a peninsula between Bømlafjorden in Vestland county and Boknafjorden in the northern part of Rogaland county, Nord-Rogaland.
