Vince Leah Trophy
The Kim Davis Trophy is an annual award given to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League during the regular season. The trophy is named after former MJHL commissioner Kim Davis. History The Rookie of the Year award was created in 1950. From 1967 to 1977, the award winner was presented the Gordon Petrie Memorial Trophy and from 1978 to 2022 was named the Vince Leah Trophy. Vince Leah was a sportswriter for ''The Winnipeg Tribune'' and the ''Winnipeg Free Press'', founded the Excelsior Hockey Club in 1934, which produced forty future professional hockey players and won thirteen provincial championships. Manitoba Junior Hockey League
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is a Junior 'A' ice hockey league operating in the Canadian province of Manitoba and one of nine member leagues of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). The MJHL consists of thirteen teams all based within the province of Manitoba, eight of which qualify for each year's playoffs. The playoff champion is awarded the Turnbull Cup, the Junior 'A' championship trophy for the province of Manitoba. The winner of the MJHL playoffs (Turnbull Cup) competes against the champion from Saskatchewan for the ANAVET Cup and a berth in the Centennial Cup (formerly known as the Royal Bank Cup). Brendan O'Donnell
Brendan O’Donnell (born June 25, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing under contract with Düsseldorfer EG in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) Playing career O'Donnell was drafted 156th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. After four seasons with the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks, he signed with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL on October 8, 2015. During his second season, he scored 41 goals and 80 points in 61 games for the Everblades. He also had a short stint in the American Hockey League with the Texas Stars in 2017, with whom he played six games. O'Donnell then moved to Chinese club Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League, playing 25 games and registering two assists. On August 19, 2018, O'Donnell joined KooKoo of Liiga. Mark Agnew is a UK adventurer notable for kayaking the Northwest Passage. Mark was awarded European Adventurer of the Year 2023. He is the heir apparent to the Agnew baronets. Mark is the son of explorer Sir Crispin Agnew QC. Mark and three teammates kayaked the Northwest Passage. Mark, expedition leader West Hansen, Jeff Wueste and Eileen Visser, known as The Arctic Cowboys, were in two tandem kayaks, supported by their shore team Tom McGuire and Barbara Edington. The Neepawa Titans are a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey team from Neepawa, Manitoba. They are members of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), a part of the Canadian Junior Hockey League, and play home games at the Yellowhead Centre. History Neepawa Natives (1989–2021) Neepawa's MJHL team was founded in 1989 as the Neepawa Natives. The creation of the original team name was rooted in the early 1960s, with the then-named Neepawa Intermediates hockey team. In 1963, Ron Guinn and Cecil Pittman suggested the Neepawa Intermediates should create an actual team name for the Neepawa-based hockey club. A name that would connect to Neepawa (a Cree name meaning ''abundance'' or ''plenty'') was explored. Andrew Pryce Jackman (13 July 1946 – 16 August 2003) was an English keyboardist, arranger and composer who worked with many leading figures in British popular music. His most successful project was as the arranger and conductor of the ''Classic Rock'' series of albums by the London Symphony Orchestra, the first of which reached No 3 in the charts in 1978. Career Jackman began his music career as the keyboard player in The Selfs, a rhythm and blues band formed in 1964 in Wembley, London, also featuring bassist Chris Squire (later of Yes) and drummer Martyn Adelman. The Selfs amalgamated with another band, The Syn, in 1965, led by Steve Nardelli. Nardelli and Jackman became the main songwriters for the band. The Syn broke up in 1967.
