Ville-Marie, Quebec
Ville-Marie is a town on Lake Temiscaming in western Quebec, Canada. It is the largest city and seat of the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality. As one of the oldest towns in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, it is considered the cradle of north-western Quebec and nicknamed "Pearl of Témiscamingue". CKVM-FM broadcasts from Ville-Marie. The town is home to the Junior "A" Ville-Marie Pirates of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League. History Already in 1679, the place functioned as a trading post between the French and indigenous Algonquians. In 1720, the North West Company opened a trading post and built a store in 1785, which came into the hands of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1821 when the two companies merged. In 1836, a mission was established, followed in 1863, by a mission founded by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who gave it the name "Ville-Marie". Ville-Marie—Le Sud-Ouest—Île-des-Sœurs is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. It encompasses a portion of Quebec formerly included in the electoral districts of Jeanne-Le Ber, Westmount—Ville-Marie, Laurier—Sainte-Marie and Outremont. Ville-Marie—Le Sud-Ouest—Île-des-Sœurs was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. It came into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, which took place 19 October 2015. The riding was originally intended to be named Ville-Marie. Place Ville Marie (PVM for short) is a large office and shopping complex skyscraper in Downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada, comprising four office buildings and an underground shopping plaza. It serves as the main and official headquarters for Royal Bank of Canada, Canada's Largest Bank. The main building, 1 Place Ville Marie (formerly Royal Bank Tower from its anchor tenant), was built in the International style in 1962 as the headquarters for the Royal Bank of Canada, which it still is presently. It is a , 47-storey, cruciform office tower. CIRA-FM is a French language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec. Its studios are located at 5000 d'Iberville street in the Plateau Mont-Royal district of Montreal. It broadcasts on 91.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 36,200 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna located atop Mount Royal. Radio Ville-Marie now stylized as Radio VM received CRTC approval in 1994 to operate a new religious French-language FM radio programming at Montreal. This radio station is Catholic and has a religious broadcasting format. Since its inception in 1995 it identifies itself as "Radio Ville-Marie". CIRA-FM is not a commercial broadcaster and as such does not carry paid advertising.
