Villa Loretto
Villa Loretto is a historic institutional building located at Peekskill, Westchester County, New York. It was built in 1928 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd for the housing and treatment of young delinquent women. It is a three to four story, "H" shaped brick building containing more than 175,000 square feet. The facility closed in June 1975. Peekskill, New York
Peekskill is a city in northwestern Westchester County, New York, United States, from New York City. Established as a village in 1816, it was incorporated as a city in 1940. It lies on a bay along the east side of the Hudson River, across from Jones Point in Rockland County. The population was 25,431 at the 2020 US census, an increase over 23,583 during the 2010 census. The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, also known as the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, is a Catholic religious order that was founded in 1835 by Mary Euphrasia Pelletier in Angers, France. The religious sisters belong to a Catholic international congregation of religious women dedicated to promoting the welfare of women and girls.
