"Vilify" is the first single from American industrial metal band Device's debut album of the same name''.'' It was released through Warner Bros. Records on February 19, 2013, and was produced by David Draiman, who is also the current lead singer of Disturbed, and Geno Lenardo, who is originally the lead guitarist of Filter. Background David Draiman first announced his side project, Device, in May 2012. The band released its first single on February 19, 2013 for radio and digital download. A snippet of the song was first made available on the Australian iTunes Store, as a 90-second preview, with the full version having since been leaked online. The album and the song were given the Parental Advisory sticker for the band's use of explicit language in both. Device was an American industrial metal band started by David Draiman, frontman of the heavy metal group Disturbed, and Geno Lenardo, former guitarist of Filter. They released one album, '' Device'', in 2013. History Formation and self-titled album (2012–2013) After Disturbed went into hiatus in late 2011, frontman David Draiman announced a new side-project called Device in May 2012. He revealed that he would be working with Geno Lenardo, former guitarist for Filter for their ''Title of Record'' and '' Amalgamut'' albums, in the new side project. Disturbed is an American heavy metal band from Chicago, formed in 1994. The band includes vocalist David Draiman, guitarist/keyboardist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer, and drummer Mike Wengren. Donegan and Wengren have been involved in the band since its inception, with Moyer replacing former bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak and Draiman replacing original lead vocalist Erich Awalt. The band has released eight studio albums, five of which have consecutively debuted at number one on the ''Billboard'' 200. Advisory (abbreviated PAL) is a warning label introduced by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1985 and adopted by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in 2011. It is placed on audio recordings in recognition of profanity or inappropriate references, with the intention of alerting parents of material potentially unsuitable for children under the age of 16 or the age of majority. The label was first affixed on physical 33 1/3 rpm records, compact discs and cassette tapes, and it has been included on digital listings offered by online music stores. In PAL-region territories, some video games featuring licensed music were affixed with the label in the late 1990's and early 2000's. The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. Filter (band)
Filter is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio, by singer Richard Patrick and guitarist and programmer Brian Liesegang. The band was formed when Patrick desired to start his own band after leaving Nine Inch Nails as their touring guitarist. Their debut album '' Short Bus'' was released in 1995 and ended up going platinum, largely due to the success of the single " Hey Man Nice Shot". After the album, the band would go through the first of many lineup changes, leaving Patrick as the only consistent member across all releases. After Liesegang's departure in 1997, Patrick recorded a follow up album with the ''Short Bus'' touring band members, who became full-time members thereafter.
