Viktoriya Rybalko
Viktoriya Rybalko (born 26 October 1982) is a Ukrainian long jumper. She was born in track-and-field student-athlete's family in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. Her parents decided to name her Victoria - meaning victory. Vika spent her childhood in Moldova after her parents moved there for a job. Her school years started back in Ukraine, where she started her first grade in Zaporozhye, Ukraine. Viktoriya's track-and-field career started when her parents took her to meet her first coach (Telegin Vasiliy Ivanovich) at the age of 11. First international appearance in long jump was in the summer of 1999 with a second-place finish at the Youth Olympic Days in Denmark. In the fall of 1999, Vika left Ukraine to attend the University of Maine, Orono, US, at the age of 17. Her university carrier was highlighted by placing second in long jump at the NCAA Division I Championships and winning the prestigious Dean Smith's award as a top student-athlete. The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. Athletics At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Long Jump
The women's long jump at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place on 19 and 22 August at the Beijing National Stadium. The qualifying standards were 6.72 m (A standard) and 6.60 m (B standard). Summary In the qualifying round, Blessing Okagbare was the last qualifier, jumping 6.59m on her final attempt to knock bot Tatyana Kotova and triple jump bronze medalist, Hrysopiyí Devetzí out of the final by 2 cm. #1 qualifier Brittney Reese jumped 6.65m as the first jump in the final, which held up for five jumps until Tatyana Lebedeva jumped 6.97m. Four more jumps later, Maurren Maggi's winner was the only jump of the competition to best Lebedeva. The penultimate jumper Chelsea Hammond jumped 6.79m, then the 19 year old Okagbare hit a 6.91m. The women's long jump competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, was held at the Olympic Stadium on 7–8 August. Only three barely made the auto qualifying mark. Brittney Reese struggled with fouls and finally made a mark on her final attempt. Karin Melis Mey originally qualified for the final, but was pulled after a positive drug test. In the final Ineta Radēviča took the first round lead with a 6.88, while Yelena Sokolova settled into second place. Brittney Reese, who has won every major championship since 2009, fouled her first attempt. In the second round, Reese hit to board cleanly, jumping 7.12.
