Vikersund Station
Vikersund Station ( no, Vikersund stasjon) is a railway station located at the village of Vikersund in Modum, Norway. At Vikersund there is a junction with the Randsfjorden Line (''Randsfjordbane'') on which Norges Statsbaner operates some express trains between Bergen and Oslo. History The station was opened in 1866, as part of the Randsfjorden Line. In 1872, Vikersund became the terminus of the Krøderen Line (''Krøderbanen''), a branch line to the lake of Krøderen. Passenger services on the Krøderen Line were withdrawn in 1958 and freight traffic in 1985. The rail line was transformed into a heritage railway with outings between Vikersund Station and Krøderen, a distance of about 26 km. Vikersund is a town of 3,232 (in 2020) inhabitants in the municipality capital of Modum, in the county of Viken, Norway. Overview Vikersund is located 30 kilometers south of Hønefoss and 40 kilometers northwest of Drammen. The village is located at the southwestern arm of Tyrifjorden. Drammenselva enters Tyrifjorden by Vikerfossen. Trunk road Highway 35 passes Vikersund. Hønefoss Station ( no, Hønefoss stasjon) is a railway station located at Hønefoss in Ringerike, Norway. The station is located at the intersection between the Bergen Line, the Randsfjord Line and the Roa–Hønefoss Line. The Norwegian Railway Club ( no, Norsk Jernbaneklubb) is an association which is involved in the preservation of Norwegian museum railways. NMT has its operating base at Hønefoss Station in Ringerike, Norway. The society was founded on 22 May 1969, and is based at Bryn Station in Oslo, but with local groups all over the country. It publishes the magazine ''På Sporet'' four times a year, as well as publishing numerous books. The club also operates two heritage railways, the Old Voss Line in Bergen, and the Krøder Line. Most of the work is done by volunteers. The Norwegian Railway Club runs Norwegian Heritage Trains or NMT (''Norsk Museumstog''). Krøderen is a village in Krødsherad, Buskerud, Norway. The village of Krøderen is located at the point where Snarumselva drains out of the south end of Lake Krøderen (lake), Krøderen. Krøderen is approximately 100 km northwest of Oslo. Norwegian county road Fylkesvei 285 (Fv285) passes through the village, providing the shortest link between Hallingdal and Drammen. Krøderen (also Krøderfjorden) is a lake in the municipality of Krødsherad in Buskerud, Norway. Summary The lake stretches about north from the village of Krøderen in Krødsherad on its southern end and reaches north to the village of Gulsvik in Flå municipalities of Norway, municipality in the valley of Hallingdal. Modum
Modum is a municipality in Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Vikersund. The municipality of Modum was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area has a long tradition of skiing with several famous skiers.
