Viikki ( sv, Vik) is a neighbourhood of about 15,000 inhabitants in Helsinki, Finland. It is located at the bottom of ''Vanhankaupunginlahti'' bay, some 7–10 km from the city centre. The district hosts the Viikki Campus with four of the faculties of the University of Helsinki (biosciences, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and agriculture and forestry) as well as other university units such as research centres, science library and teacher training school. Viikki is known for its natural environment. The conservation area of ''Vanhankaupunginlahti'' is an important place of nesting and migration for birds. Large fields and farmlands are cultivated by a teaching farm that is part of the university's agricultural faculty. Southernmost part of the Latokartano residential zone is known as an "ecological housing" area. The Viikki Campus ( fi, Viikin kampus, sv, Campus Vik) is a campus area of the University of Helsinki in Finland, focusing on biological sciences. Vartiokylä
Vartiokylä ( sv, Botby) is a neighbourhood in the East Helsinki area of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Its name is derived from the ruins of an eleventh-century fortress on the Linnanvuori hill in Vartioharju, one of Vartiokylä's subdivisions. The working population of Helsinki started building their houses in the area after the completion of Uusi Porvoontie, a road to the downtown, in the 1930s. Nowadays the area has a few high density apartment areas as well as houses. Vartiokylä became a part of Helsinki in 1946. The city of Helsinki, the capital of Finland, can be divided into various sorts of subdivisions. Vanhakaupunki
Vanhakaupunki ( sv, Gammelstaden) is a neighbourhood of the city of Helsinki, Finland, to the north of Toukola. It is also the name of a district of the city, which contains the neighbourhood and its surroundings. The name (meaning "old town") comes from the fact that Helsinki was originally founded in the Vanhakaupunki area. The Swedish name ''Gamla Helsingfors'' (meaning "Old Helsinki") appears in the new Helsinki foundation document from 1639, as the city was moved to its later location, and the forms ''Gamla staden'' or ''Gammelstaden'' came into use after this. Itäkeskus
Itäkeskus ( sv, Östra centrum, literal translation ''East center'') is a ''quarter'' in the neighbourhood of Vartiokylä (as of the 1980s) in Helsinki, Finland. The district's main attraction is the largest covered-in shopping mall in the Nordic countries, Itis, which make Itäkeskus as the most significant commercial center of East Helsinki. The district has a station on the Helsinki Metro (Itäkeskus metro station), whose eastern entrance at the Tallinnanaukio square leads to the shopping centre. Itäkeskus has the eastern terminus of bus lines 500 and 550; the western terminus of line 500 is Munkkivuori and line 550 is Espoo's Westend bus station.
