Vietnam At The Olympics
Vietnam first competed in the Olympic Games in 1952 as the State of Vietnam. After the Partition of Vietnam in 1954, only the Republic of Vietnam competed in the Games, sending athletes to every Summer Olympics between 1956 and 1972. Since the reunification of Vietnam in 1976, they have competed as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, attending every Olympics from 1980 onwards with the exception of 1984. The present Vietnam Olympic Committee was formed in 1976 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1979. Vietnam has never competed in the Winter Olympics. Vietnam won its first medal at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney, when Trần Hiếu Ngân took home a silver in Taekwondo in the Women's -57 kg category. 1960 Summer Olympics Medal Table
The 1960 Summer Olympics medal table is a list of National Olympic Committees ranked by the number of medals won during the 1960 Summer Olympics, held in Rome, Italy from August 25 to September 11, 1960. A total of 5,338 athletes from 83 countries participated in these Games, competing in 150 events in 17 sports. Athletes from 44 countries won at least one medal, leaving 39 countries in blank in the medal table. The Soviet Union won the most gold (43) and overall medals (103). British West Indies, Republic of China, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Morocco, and Singapore won the first medals in their Olympic history. Olympic Medal Table
The Olympic medal table is a method of sorting the medal placements of countries in the modern-day Olympics and Paralympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not officially recognize a ranking of participating countries at the Olympic Games. Nevertheless, the IOC does publish medal tallies for information purposes, showing the total number of Olympic medals earned by athletes representing each country's respective National Olympic Committee. The convention used by the IOC is to sort by the number of gold medals the athletes from a country have earned. In the event of a tie in the number of gold medals, the number of silver medals is taken into consideration, and then the number of bronze medals. If two countries have an equal number of gold, silver, and bronze medals, they are ordered in the table alphabetically by their IOC country code. Shooting At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's 10 Metre Air Pistol
The men's 10 metre air pistol event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 6 August 2016 at the National Shooting Center. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualification and a final. In the qualification round, each shooter fired 60 shots with an air pistol at 10 metres distance. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top-eight shooters in the qualification round advanced to the final round, where they fired an additional 20 shots. Scores for each shot were in increments of 0.1, with a maximum score of 10.9. Hoàng Xuân Vinh (born October 6, 1974 in Hanoi) is a Vietnamese sport shooter. Xuân Vinh participated in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal in the 10 meter air pistol and a silver in the 50 meter pistol competitions in 2016 Summer Olympics, being the first-ever and currently only athlete from his country to win an Olympic gold medal.
