Vietnam competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's tenth appearance at the Olympics as a reunified republic, six of which under the banner of the State of Vietnam or South Vietnam. The delegation finished without a medal for the first time since 2004 Summer Olympics. Competitors The following is the list of number of competitors in the Games. Rowing At The 2020 Summer Olympics
The rowing competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place between 23 and 30 July 2021 at the Sea Forest Waterway ( Central Breakwater) in Tokyo Bay. Fourteen medal events were contested by 526 athletes (263 men and women each). Competition format The rowing programme featured a total of fourteen events, seven each for both men and women in identical boat classes. This gender equality was suggested by the World Rowing Federation at its February 2017 congress, with the recommendation adopted by the International Olympic Committee in June 2017. This balancing was achieved by deleting the men's lightweight four and adding the women's coxless four boat classes. Ren Hayakawa
is a Japanese archer of South Korean descent who won a bronze medal in the women's team event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Early and personal life Hayakawa was born Um Hye-ryeon (hanja:) in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. She competed in archery in high school and was later a member of a professional team, though she never qualified for the South Korean national team. Hayakawa became a Japanese citizen in 2007 having left South Korea to study on an archery scholarship, enrolling at the Nippon Sport Science University. The women's individual archery event was one of five archery events held at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held at Yumenoshima Park. There were 64 competitors from 40 nations, with each nation having either 1 or 3 archers. Background This was the 13th consecutive appearance of the event, which has been held every Games since archery returned to the Olympic program in 1972. Five of the 8 quarterfinalists from the 2016 Games returned: silver medalist Lisa Unruh of Germany, fourth-place finisher Alejandra Valencia of Mexico, and quarterfinalists Tan Ya-ting of Chinese Taipei, Wu Jiaxin of China, and Naomi Folkard of Great Britain. Tang Chih-chun
Tang Chih-chun (; born 16 March 2001) is a Taiwanese archer competing in men's recurve events. He won the gold medal in the men's team recurve event, alongside Luo Wei-min and Wei Chun-heng, at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2018, he competed at the Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina without winning a medal. In the boys' singles he reached the elimination rounds where he was eliminated in his second elimination match, by Trenton Cowles of the United States. Cowles went on to win the gold medal. In the mixed team he reached the bronze medal match, alongside Rebecca Jones of New Zealand, and they lost their match against Quinn Reddig of Namibia and Trenton Cowles. The World Archery Federation (WA, also and formerly known as FITA from the French ''Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc'') is the governing body of the sport of archery. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is composed of 156 national federations and other archery associations, and is recognised by the International Olympic Committee. History FITA was founded on 4 September 1931 in Lwow, Poland (today Lviv, Ukraine). Its seven founding member states were France, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Poland, the United States, Hungary, and Italy.
