Video Hits (Australian TV Series)
''Video Hits'' was an Australian music video program that first aired on 15 February 1987. From 7 May 2011 it broadcast on Network Ten for two hours each Saturday and Sunday morning: 10am – 12pm on Saturdays and 8am – 10am on Sundays. At the time of its cancellation, ''Video Hits'' was the world's second longest running music show after the Eurovision Song Contest. The show was cancelled in July 2011 and its last episode aired on 6 August 2011. History From 1987 to 1999, the show highlighted songs featured in the Australian Music Report chart each week. This fluctuated from a Top 40 format to a Top 30, Top 20 and in early 2008, just a Top 10 countdown. In the 2000s, the show switched to the ARIA Report. In the late 1990s, an "Interactive Top 10" was introduced with songs supposedly voted in by the public. This was later stopped after claims of vote rigging. Dylan Lewis
Dylan Thomas Lewis (also known as DiRK ViLE) is an Australian television and radio host. Biography Early life Lewis was educated at Caulfield Grammar School and graduated in 1990; he then studied a Bachelor of Education in Drama and Music degree at the University of Melbourne. John Bannon, former South Australian premier, was Lewis's stepfather. The ''Hot30 Countdown'' was an Australian radio show hosted by Mike Christian (MC) and Mel Greig. It was broadcast on the Today Network from the studios of 2Day FM in Sydney, New South Wales to every state and the Australian Capital Territory following ''The Dirt''. It was cancelled on 10 December 2012, following the death of Jacintha Saldanha, and was replaced by '' The Bump''. History Beginning in 1996, the show was first hosted by Ugly Phil and Jackie O under the name ''Ugly Phil's Hot 30''. ''Michael Jackson's Thriller'' is a 1983 music video for the song " Thriller" by the American singer Michael Jackson, released on December 2, 1983. ''Rage'' (stylised as ''rage'') is an all-night Australian music video program broadcast on ABC TV on Friday nights, Saturday mornings and Saturday nights. It was first screened on the weekend of Friday, 17 April 1987. With ''Soul Train'' and '' Video Hits'' no longer being produced, it is the oldest music television program currently still in production as of 2021. On Friday and Saturday nights, ''Rage'' typically starts between 11:00pm and 1:00am.
