Victory (The Jacksons Album)
''Victory'' is the fifteenth studio album by the Jacksons. It was released by Epic Records on July 2, 1984. This was the only album to include all six Jackson brothers together as an official group. ''Victory'' was certified 2× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the United States in October 1984. It peaked at number four on the US ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. Its most successful single, " State of Shock", peaked at number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 songs chart. ''Victory'' was supported by the Victory Tour, with Michael, who had recently released the world's all-time best-selling album, '' Thriller'' (1982), being prominently featured on the tour's setlist. The Jackson 5 (sometimes stylized as the Jackson 5ive, also known as the Jacksons) are an American pop band composed of members of the Jackson family. The group was founded in 1964 in Gary, Indiana, and for most of their career consisted of brothers Jackie Jackson, Jackie, Tito Jackson, Tito, Jermaine Jackson, Jermaine, Marlon Jackson, Marlon and Michael Jackson, Michael. They were managed by their father Joe Jackson (manager), Joe Jackson. The group were among the first African Americans, African American performers to attain a crossover following. State Of Shock (song)
"State of Shock" is a 1984 single by the Jacksons, featuring frontman Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger. It was written by Jackson and guitarist Randy Hansen. The track was originally sung by Jackson as a duet with Freddie Mercury, and was later slated for the '' Thriller'' album in 1982; however, due to differing time schedules, Jackson ended up recording it with his brothers and Jagger instead. An instrumental clip of the song appeared on Michael's posthumous album ''Immortal'' in 2011. ''Thriller'' is the sixth studio album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Jackson, released on November 29, 1982, by Epic Records. It was produced by Quincy Jones, who had previously worked with Jackson on his 1979 album ''Off the Wall''. Jackson wanted to create an album where "every song was a killer". With the ongoing backlash against Disco Demolition Night, disco music at the time, he moved in a new musical direction, resulting in a mix of pop music, pop, post-disco, rock music, rock, funk, and contemporary R&B, R&B sounds. Victory Tour (The Jacksons Tour)
The Victory Tour was a concert tour of the United States and Canada by the Jacksons from July to December 1984. It was the only tour with all six Jackson brothers, even though Jackie was injured for some of it. The group performed 55 concerts to an audience of approximately 2 million. In the 22 locations performed, 19 of the locations were performed in large stadia. Many came to see Michael, whose album '' Thriller'' was dominating the popular music world at the time. Many consider it to be his ''Thriller'' tour, with most of the songs on the set list coming from his ''Thriller'' and '' Off the Wall'' albums. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Its members consist of record labels and distributors that the RIAA says "create, manufacture, and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legally sold recorded music in the United States".
