Victoria University of Wellington ( mi, Te Herenga Waka) is a university in Wellington, New Zealand. It was established in 1897 by Act of Parliament, and was a constituent college of the University of New Zealand. The university is well known for its programmes in law, the humanities, and some scientific disciplines, and offers a broad range of other courses. Entry to all courses at first year is open, and entry to second year in some programmes (e.g. law, criminology, creative writing, architecture, engineering) is restricted. The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), is a Catalan university with premises in Vic, Manresa and Granollers. It is a privately managed institution, under public supervision through its proprietor, the Balmes University Foundation, whose chair is the Mayor of Vic. UVic-UCC is a higher education and research centre. The UVic-UCC is a member of the Vives University Network. It was recognised as a university in 1997, fruit of the fusion of several centres in Vic affiliated to other universities. Initially, there was a campus only in Vic, but in 2014 the University of Vic was reconstituted as the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), as a result of the federation between the University of Vic and university centres in Manresa managed by the Bages University Foundation. Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) is a Ugandan football club, based in Kampala. They play their home games at the Mandela National Stadium. History SCVU was formed on 19 August 2011, and played in the Uganda Big League, winning the play-off final 4-0 against Aurum Roses to gain promotion to the Uganda Premier League. First Head Coach in history of SC Victoria University was Serbian tactician Ivan Zoric. Following the promotion of Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) to the Uganda Super League in 2012, SCVU finished fifth in the 2012-13 season and won its first major trophy, the Uganda Cup in 2013. SCVU played in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup, losing to CS Don Bosco in the first round. Victoria University was an English federal university established by royal charter on 20 April 1880 at Manchester: a university for the North of England open to affiliation by colleges such as Owens College, which immediately did so. University College Liverpool joined the university in 1884, followed by Yorkshire College, Leeds, in 1887. The university and the colleges were distinct corporate bodies until Owens College merged with the university in 1904. A supplemental charter of 1883 enabled the granting of degrees in medicine and surgery. The aspirations of Manchester and Liverpool to become independent city universities meant that the Victoria University was short-lived.
