Captain Joy
Captain Joy is a Standardbred pacing racehorse whose wins include 6 Group 1 victories including three Derbies, 13 consecutive wins as a 2 and 3 year old and a total of 26 wins through to the end of his 6 year old season. He is a bay gelding who was foaled in New South Wales, Australia on the 20 October 2005 and sired by Mach Three, his dam Lady Joy was by Talk About Class. Mach Three, 1:49, earned $2,376,700 and sired several other good horses including Auckland Reactor and Somebeachsomewhere. Lady Joy won 13 races and $81,169 in a brief career of just 24 starts. Beyond Captain Joy she has also produced Another Joy (9 wins $103,319), Lightning Joy (a trotter, 11 wins $103,375) and Master Joy (12 wins $137,270). Lombo Pocket Watch
Lombo Pocket Watch is a champion Australian grey Standardbred colt foaled on 16 October 2003. Bred and raced by Western Australian owner Mick Lombardo, and was primarily trained near Cawdor by Paul Fitzpatrick, with son Gavin Fitzpatrick the regular driver. In his first season of racing as a two-year-old, he won five Group One (G1) races and was voted the overall 2006 Australian Harness Horse of the Year, the first two-year-old to win the award and his earnings of $642,375 was an Australian juvenile record. As a three-year-old, he won another five Group One races including three of the prestigious derbies and was voted 2007 Australian 3yo Pacer of the Year. Courage Under Fire (1 August 1995 – 29 July 2017) was a New Zealand-bred champion Standardbred race horse notable for being undefeated in his first 24 race starts. A diminutive horse, he was known as Mighty Mouse. Racing Courage Under Fire was undefeated in both his two- and three-year-old seasons of racing. As a three-year-old he won a record six derbies. Westburn Grant
Westburn Grant (1985–2020) was an Australian champion Standardbred race horse notable for being a three time Australian Harness Horse of the Year. Westburn Grant raced only three times at aged two in the 1987-88 season for three wins.Cain, R (1990), Harnessing A Miracle, At age three he blossomed winning the Victoria and New South Wales Derbies and finishing third in the Australian Derby. In the NSW Derby he beat Victorian pacer Rockleigh Victory by 21 metres in a track record mile rate of 1:59.0 for 2350 metres. Paleface Adios
Paleface Adios (1969–1989) was an Australian harness racing horse which competed as a pacer throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. He raced from 1972 to 1981, (from the age of two years until he was retired at the age of 11 years) when there was top competition from the likes of the Hondo Grattan and Pure Steel. He was a chestnut Standardbred pacer with a white blaze and feet, and a golden mane. Paleface Adios was foaled on 1 November 1969, at Temora, NSW and was by Deep Adios (by Adios) out of Rayjen by Brigade Command. Rayjen was the dam of several full siblings to Paleface Adios, but they failed to match his ability as racehorses. Harness racing, also colloquially known as trotting or the trots, is a spectator sport in Australia, with significant amounts of money wagered annually with bookmakers and the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB). In Australia there are 90 harness racing tracks, which hold over 1,900 meetings annually. There are approximately 2,900 drivers and 4,000 trainers with about 5,000 Standardbred horses foaled and registered each year. Racing Harness racing in Australia is conducted with Standardbred horses racing around a track while pulling a driver in a two-wheeled cart called a "sulky", "gig" or "bike". Standardbred racehorses compete in two gaits, pacing and trotting, and trotters may enter pacing events, but not vice versa. Pacers contest 80% to 90% of Australian harness races.
