Victoria București
Victoria București was a Romanian football club, dissolved right after the Romanian Revolution of 1989. History The club was sponsored by the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs (the "Miliția", Police). In 1985 Victoria played for the first time in the Romanian top division, becoming very fast one of the most important teams, behind Steaua and Dinamo București. Between 1986 and 1989 they finished every year in 3rd place. However, it was a well-known fact during that time that many victories were due to unfair influences over the referees, other teams' players and even officials. This is why in 1990, right after the Revolution, the team was dissolved by the Romanian Football Federation and the club literally disappeared. The team was founded in 1949, in the neighborhood of Obor, being the branch of Dinamo București and promoted to Division B in 1953 under the name of Dinamo 6. The Romania national football team ( ro, Echipa națională de fotbal a României) represents Romania in international men's football competition and is administered by the Romanian Football Federation ( ro, Federația Română de Fotbal), also known as FRF. They are colloquially known as ''Tricolorii'' (The Tricolours). Romania is one of only four national teams from Europe—the other three being Belgium, France, and Yugoslavia—that took part in the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930. Including that participation, Romania have qualified for seven World Cup editions, the latest in 1998. The 1959–60 Divizia B was the 20th season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The league was expanded from two series to three series of 14 teams. At the end of the season the winners of the series promoted to Divizia A and the last two places from each series relegated to Regional Championship. Liga II
The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. Dumitru Dragomir
Dumitru "Mitică" Dragomir (born May 30, 1946) is a former president of the Romanian Professional Football League from 1996 until 2014. Before that, he served as the president of Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea, Olt Scorniceşti, FCM Braşov, and Victoria București. He also sat in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies from 2000 to 2008, representing Vâlcea County and winning election twice, more specifically in 2000 and in 2004. He was a member of the Greater Romania Party (PRM) for most of that period, but resigned from the party in September 2008 and sat as an independent MP for the remainder of his second term. On 23 June 2016, Dragomir was sentenced to 7 years' imprisonment for tax evasion, embezzlement, and money laundering. The sentence was not final. He was acquitted of all charges by the Bucharest Court of Appeals in November 2018, the decision being final. Matthias Sammer
Matthias Sammer (; born 5 September 1967) is a German football official and former player and coach. He played as a defensive midfielder and later in his career as a sweeper. With Borussia Dortmund as a player, Sammer won the Bundesliga and DFL-Supercup in 1995, the Bundesliga, DFL-Supercup, and European Footballer of the Year in 1996, and the UEFA Champions League and Intercontinental Cup in 1997. Germany won the UEFA Euro 1996 with Sammer as a player, where he was named the tournament's best player, and was subsequently awarded the Ballon d'Or later that year. Sammer retired with 74 total caps, 23 for East Germany and 51 for the unified side. With Sammer as a manager, Borussia Dortmund won the Bundesliga in 2002.
