Josep Vicenç Foix
Josep Vicenç Foix i Mas (; 28 January 1893 in Barcelona – 29 January 1987) was a Catalan poet, writer, and essayist in Catalan. He usually signed his work by using the abbreviation J.V. Foix. Biography Born in Sarrià , Barcelona, Foix was the son of a baker. He started a university degree in law, but gave it up after the second year. Later, he worked in the family business as well as reading classic masterpieces of literature by authors such as Lord Byron, Dante Alighieri and Charles Baudelaire. Foix remained rooted to the place where he was born, even after the conclusion of the Spanish Civil War. Foix's work had a consistent liberal tone; he was also involved in introducing avant-garde ideas to Catalonia. In 1916, Foix began to collaborate with ''La Revista'' and started to become interested in avant-garde art. He found work among publications such as ''Trossos'', ''La Cònsola'' (1919–1920) or ''La Publicitat'' (1923–1936), where he worked as an art director. At the e ... Vicente Cuyás ( ca, Vicenç Cuyàs i Borés) (Palma de Mallorca, 6 February 1816 – Barcelona, 7 March 1839) was a Spanish composer known for his romantic opera ''La fattucchiera''. Vicente Cuyás was born to a Catalan family in Palma de Mallorca where his family had fled during the Peninsular War. Shortly thereafter, the family returned to Barcelona where Cuyás began studies in medicine, which he soon abandoned. At the age of 17 he began to study music with Ramón Vilanova, one of Barcelona's most prestigious teachers during the early nineteenth century, who in turn had trained in Milan with abbé Isidore Piantanida. Cuyás' early works consist of some operatic music which was premiered widely in private salons, but it was at the Teatre de la Santa Creu where almost all of his works were produced. Vicenç Vilarrubla Solsona (born January 31, 1981, in la Seu d'Urgell) is a Catalan Spanish cross-country skier from Bellestar (Alt Urgell) who has competed in the World Cup since 2001. Vilarrubla competed in four FIS Nordic World Ski Championships from 2003 to 2009 and at 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics. Vilarrubla's best Olympic results are 31st places in 30 km pursuit events in 2006 and 2010.
