Vice Chief Of Defence Force (New Zealand)
The Vice Chief of Defence Force (VCDF) is a senior appointment in the New Zealand Defence Force. The position was established in February 2004 in response to the Review of Accountabilities and Structural Arrangements between the Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force undertaken by Don Hunn (known as the "Hunn Review") and reported on in September 2002. Hunn recommended greater integration between top-level military and civil personnel responsible for the command and governance of the New Zealand Defence Force, and suggested the position of VCDF be created to assist the Chief of Defence Force as a chief staff officer. Tony Davies (RNZAF Officer)
William Anthony Davies (16 September 1939 – 6 April 2008) was a New Zealand rugby union footballer, who played 17 games for the All Blacks in 1960 and 1962 as a full-back or centre. Davies was nominated for the All Blacks while playing for the University of Auckland's rugby union team, and made his debut on 14 May 1960 in Sydney, Australia against Queensland. His international debut was against South Africa on 27 August. He played 14 games for the All Blacks that year, then transferred to Dunedin to study medicine, where he played 39 games for the University of Otago. In 1962, Davies returned to the All Blacks for two games against Australia, bringing his total national caps to 17.. Don Hunn
Donald Kent Hunn (born Wellington 26 December 1934) is a senior New Zealand diplomat and civil servant. Hunn is the son of Sir Jack Hunn, a former Secretary of Defence, Maori Affairs, and Justice. Education Hunn attended Wellington College (New Zealand), Wellington College and Victoria University of Wellington, where he earned a Master of Arts in History. He worked initially at the Public Trustee (New Zealand), Public Trust. Diplomatic career Hunn joined the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1957. During the 1960s and 1970s, he had diplomatic postings in Washington, D.C., Suva, Kuala Lumpur and Brussels, and opened New Zealand's embassy in Chile. Royal New Zealand Air Force
The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) ( mi, Te Tauaarangi o Aotearoa, "The Warriors of the Sky of New Zealand"; previously ', "War Party of the Blue") is the aerial service branch of the New Zealand Defence Force. It was formed from New Zealand elements of the British Royal Air Force, becoming an independent force in 1923, although many RNZAF aircrew continued to serve in the Royal Air Force until the end of the 1940s. Rear Admiral Jack Raymond Steer, is a retired Royal New Zealand Navy officer, who served as Chief of Navy from 2012 to 2015. Career Born in Christchurch, Steer joined the Navy in 1973. Lieutenant General Timothy James Keating is a former New Zealand Army officer and Chief of the New Zealand Defence Force. He was appointed Chief of Defence Force in 2014, immediately following his tenure as Vice Chief of Defence Force. He served as Chief of Army from 2011 to 2012. Keating served as Commander, Crib Rotation 6, the Provincial Reconstruction Team, in the early years of the deployment to Bamiyan, Afghanistan. Keating was promoted to lieutenant general and took over as Chief of Defence Force (CDF) for a three-year term on 1 February 2014. On 3 April 2018 Keating announced he would be stepping down as CDF on the completion of his term on 30 June. Air Marshal Kevin Ronald Short, is a Royal New Zealand Air Force officer, serving as Chief of Defence Force since 1 July 2018. Short joined the Air Force in 1976. He served as Commander, Crib Rotation 9, the Provincial Reconstruction Team, in the early years of New Zealand's deployment to Bamiyan, Afghanistan. In June 2011 Short was appointed Deputy Chief of Air Force, before being appointed Commander Joint Forces New Zealand from 25 February 2013.
