Vice-President Of The Criminal Division
The Vice-President of the Criminal Division is a Lord Justice of Appeal who assists the Lord Chief Justice, the President of the Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. The post was created by Lord Bingham of Cornhill during his tenure as Lord Chief Justice. He appointed Sir Christopher Rose to take up some of the burden of his duties with respect to the Criminal Division, while appointing Sir Paul Kennedy Vice-President of the Queen's Bench Division to do the same regarding that division of the High Court. This allowed Lord Bingham to spend time hearing cases in both divisions as well as the Queen's Bench Divisional Court and the Crown Court. The current holder is Sir Timothy Holroyde. Lord Justice Of Appeal
A Lord Justice of Appeal or Lady Justice of Appeal is a judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales, the court that hears appeals from the High Court of Justice, the Crown Court and other courts and tribunals. A Lord (or Lady) Justice of Appeal is the second highest level of judge in the courts of England and Wales. Despite the title, and unlike the former Lords of Appeal in Ordinary (who were judges of still higher rank), they are not peers. Appointment The number of Lord Justices of Appeal was fixed at five by the Supreme Court of Judicature Act, 1881, but has since been increased. Sir Christopher Dudley Roger Rose (born 10 February 1937) is a former judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. Education Christopher Rose was educated at Morecambe Grammar School (1947—1950), a former state grammar school, in the seaside town of Morecambe, in Lancashire, and Repton School (1950—1954), a boarding independent school for boys, in the village of Repton, in Derbyshire, followed by the University of Leeds (1954—1957), from which he obtained a degree in Law and Wadham College at the University of Oxford, from which he graduated as Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL), in 1959. Sir Paul Joseph Morrow Kennedy (born 1935) is an English jurist. He is a former vice-president of the King's Bench Division, Queen's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice of England and Wales, and former Interception of Communications Commissioner. Life Kennedy was born in northern England in Sheffield, Yorkshire, on 12 June 1935. The King's Bench Division (or Queen's Bench Division when the monarch is female) of the High Court of Justice deals with a wide range of common law cases and has supervisory responsibility over certain lower courts. Sir Timothy Victor Holroyde, PC (born 18 August 1955), styled The Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Holroyde, is an English Court of Appeal judge, formerly a judge of the High Court of Justice of England and Wales, Queen's Bench Division. Sir David Nicholas Ramsay Latham, PC (born 18 September 1942) is a retired British judge who was Lord Justice of Appeal and Chairman of the Parole Board for England and Wales.
