Vic Barwick
Victor Albert Ernest Joseph Barwick (17 June 1879 – 20 December 1963) was an Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Football Barwick began his early football career in the Tasmanian town of Queenstown and was noticed for the quality of his play in 1900 in a match against the visiting Fitzroy team from Victoria. Within a few years he ventured to the mainland and in 1903 joined St Kilda. He made his debut in the round six match versus Melbourne. A strongly built rover, he was good enough to represent the VFL against Western Australia in 1904 and topped St Kilda's goal-kicking in 1909 with 16 goals. Barwick also was club captain for both the 1905 and 1909 seasons. Although he would return to St Kilda briefly in 1913, Barwick finished his career at Brighton in the Victorian Football Association. Oatlands, Tasmania
Oatlands is an important historical village on the shores of Lake Dulverton in the centre of Tasmania, Australia. Oatlands is located 84 km north of Hobart and 115 km south of Launceston on the Midland Highway. At the 2016 census, Oatlands had a population of 683. Oatlands is considered to have the largest number of colonial sandstone buildings in any town in Australia, and many of them were built by convict labour. It is the largest town in the Southern Midlands Council area and is surrounded by rich agricultural land. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. Tasmanian Football Hall Of Fame
The Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame was established to help recognise outstanding services and overall contribution made to the sport of Australian rules football in Tasmania. Any participant of the sport, including players, umpires, media personalities and coaches, may be inducted. A physical hall was established in 2005 after the Tasmanian Community Fund provided a $50,000 grant to assist AFL Tasmania and the Launceston City Council with establishment of a permanent facility at York Park. The decision to locate the Hall of Fame at the ground was because the site had recently been redeveloped and was positioned as the "true home of Tasmanian football". AFL Tasmania initiated the Hall of Fame nomination process, with a number of clubs, players and grounds nominated and accepted into the Hall of Fame since 2005. Brighton Football Club
Brighton Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). The club was based in the Melbourne suburb of Brighton, and was nicknamed the Penguins. After suffering financial hardship throughout the 1950s, Brighton moved to Caulfield and became the Caulfield Bears in the early to mid-1960s. History An advertisement in '' The Argus'' on 8 June 1859 announced a meeting to be held on the 9th of that month, at the Devonshire Hotel, to form the Brighton Football Club. There are references to an active Brighton Park club in 1867, and Brighton Football club in 1872, 1878, 1882 and 1883. Those clubs may or may not have been connected.
