Viby J (or just Viby) is a former town and now a district, in the southwestern part of Aarhus in Denmark. The district has almost 30,000 inhabitants. The "J" stands for Jutland, as there is another town called Viby on the island of Zealand, officially referred to as Viby Sj and also a village on Funen. Etymology and origin Viby derives from the Old Norse words ''vé'' and ''býr'', meaning holy place and town respectively. '' Vi'' is a word represented in many place names in both Denmark and Sweden. Several places are named Viby in both Denmark and Sweden (see Viby (other) for examples) and ''vi'' is also present in names like Viborg or the Swedish towns of Odensvi, Torsvi, Frösvi, Ullavi or Visby. Viby J Station
Viby Jylland railway station is a tram-train and railway station serving the district of Viby J in the city of Aarhus in East Jutland, Denmark. The station is located on the Fredericia-Aarhus Line from Fredericia to Aarhus. It offers regional train services to Aarhus, Esbjerg, Herning and Skjern. The train services are operated by DSB and Arriva. The station is also located on the Odder Line between Aarhus and Odder, part of the Aarhus light rail system. In 2016 to 2018, the Odder Line was temporarily closed along with the Grenaa Line while it was being reconstructed to form part of the Aarhus light rail system including electrification. Viby, Roskilde Municipality
Viby, often referred to as Viby Sjælland (usually styled Viby Sj) to distinguish it from Viby J in Jutland, is a satellite and commuter town to Roskilde and Copenhagen, located 8 km south of Roskilde, in Roskilde Municipality, some 30 km west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The original village, now ''Gammel Viby'' ("Old Viby"), is located in the northern part of town while the modern district has formed around Viby Station which opened on the Danish Main Line between Copenhagen and western Denmark in 1854. Marguerite Viby
Marguerite Viby (25 June 1909 – 8 April 2001) was a Danish actress of stage, film and television. Considered one of the great comedy actresses of Danish cinema, Viby received honorary Bodil and Robert Awards in 2000 for lifetime achievement. She appeared in more than 50 films and television shows during a career that spanned from the silent film era in 1929 until a television series in 1983. Career Marguerite Viby was born Ida Marguerite Steenberg Jensen Viby in Copenhagen, Denmark on 25 June 1909, the daughter of a policeman and a secretary. Her father died when she was 16 and her mother a year later. Viby left school at 14, and worked part-time to pay for dance lessons. She was schooled as a dancer at Emilie Walbom's Ballet School as'a well as through private instruction from the Danish Royal Dancer John Andersen.
