Viborg Station
Viborg station ( da, Viborg Station or ''Viborg Banegård'') is a railway station serving the city of Viborg, Denmark, Viborg in Jutland, Denmark. Viborg station is located on the Langå-Struer Line from Langå to Struer, Denmark, Struer. The station was opened in 1863 with the opening of the Langå-Viborg section of the Langå-Struer Line. It was moved to its current location in 1896. It offers direct InterCity services to Copenhagen and Struer as well as regional train services to Aarhus and Struer. The train services are operated by Arriva and DSB (railway company), DSB. History The station opened in 1863 to serve as Terminal train station, terminus of the new railway line from Langå to Viborg. In 1864, the railway line was continued to Skive, Denmark, Skive and in 1865 to Struer, Denmark, Struer. In 1893, Viborg station also became the southern terminus of the new Himmerlandsbanerne, Viborg-Aalestrup railway line, which connected with the Himmerlandsbanerne, Hobro-Aalestru ... Viborg (), a city in central Jutland, Denmark, is the capital of both Viborg municipality and Region Midtjylland. Viborg is also the seat of the Western High Court, the Courts of Denmark, High Court for the Jutland peninsula. Viborg Municipality is the second-largest Denmark, Danish municipality, covering 3.3% of the country's total land area. History Viborg is one of the oldest cities in Denmark, with Viking settlements dating back to the late 8th century. Its central location gave the city great strategic importance, in political and religious matters, during the Middle Ages. A motte-and-bailey-type castle was once located in the city. Viborg's name is a combination of two Old Norse words: ''vé'', meaning a holy place, and ''borg'', meaning a fort, but the original name of the town was ''Vvibiærgh'', where ''-biærgh'' means hill (modern Danish ''-bjerg'' (mountain).
