VfL Hamm
VfL Hamm/Sieg is a German association football club from the town of Hamm, Rhineland-Palatinate. The club's greatest success has been promotion to the tier three Oberliga Südwest in 1982 and 1985, with the club spending nineteen seasons at this level until relegation in 2003. Hamm has also participated five times in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, the German Cup, courtesy to Rhineland Cup wins. History Formed as TV Hamm in 1883 the club first fielded a football team in 1908. This team left the club in 1916 to form an independent club, the 1. FC Einigkeit Hamm. The club soon folded again and the footballers returned to ''TV'' but were forced to leave the club in the 1920s to form Sportfreunde Hamm. In 1935 this club folded again and the footballers once more returned to ''TV'', now permanently. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The Regionalliga () is the fourth tier in the German football league system. Until 1974, it was the second tier in Germany. In 1994, it was introduced as the third tier. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. The Rheinlandliga is a German amateur football division administered by the Rhineland Football Association, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Rhineland state association, the Verbandsliga is currently a level 6 division of the German football league system. Overview The Amateurliga Rheinland was formed in 1952 in the northern half of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Before its inception, three separate leagues operated in the area as the highest level of play. The league was a feeder league to the 2nd Oberliga Südwest. Stuttgarter Kickers is a German association football club that plays in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, founded on 21 September 1899 as FC Stuttgarter Cickers.
