Večernja škola
Večernja škola (English: ''Evening school'') is a Croatian comedy show hosted by Željko Pervan that originally aired on Jabuka TV, OTV between 1995 and 1998. After achieving considerable popularity in the region, its subsequent seasons were aired on Nova TV (Croatia), Nova TV and HRT 1, HRT. It is largely improvisational and spontaneous, featuring Pervan as a teacher to a group of students, debating various political and societal problems in a satirical way. The original 1995 cast consisted of Željko Pervan, Zlatan Zuhrić, Mladen Horvat, Đuro Utješanović and Ahmed El Rahim. Comedy Show
Stand-up comedy is a comedic performance to a live audience in which the performer addresses the audience directly from the stage. The performer is known as a comedian, a comic or a stand-up. Stand-up comedy consists of one-liners, stories, observations or a shtick that may incorporate props, music, magic tricks or ventriloquism. It can be performed almost anywhere, including comedy clubs, comedy festivals, bars, nightclubs, colleges or theatres. History Stand-up as a Western art form has its roots in the stump speech of American minstrel shows, which featured an actor in blackface delivering nonsensical monologue to the audience. While the intention of stump speeches was to mock African-Americans, they also occasionally contained political and social satire. The minstrel show would later influence theatrical traditions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as vaudeville and burlesque. Željko Pervan
Željko Pervan (born 7 August 1962) is a Croatian comedian. He is best known as the creator and actor in the comedy show ''Evening School'' ( Croatian: '' Večernja Škola'') Life and career Pervan was born in Zagreb Zagreb ( , , , ) is the capital (political), capital and List of cities and towns in Croatia#List of cities and towns, largest city of Croatia. Jabuka TV (lit. "Apple TV"), formerly known as ''Otvorena televizija'' ("Open TV"), is a local television station in Zagreb, Croatia. History It began broadcasting in 1989 as OTV (Omladinska TV), becoming the first commercial television station on the territories of former Yugoslavia, as well as the first independent television house. It played a major role in the further development of freedom of speech in the country, since it allowed politics and views which were previously rare or risky to espouse. It, thus, became one of the leading local TV channels in the country, and an alternative to state television. It changed its name to Otvorena Televizija in 1994. Nova TV is a Croatian free-to-air television network launched on 28 May 2000. It was the first commercial television network with national concession in the country and from 2004 until 2018 it was fully owned by the Central European Media Enterprises. In 2018, Direct Media purchased Nova TV and Doma TV. Overview As the first Croatian commercial television network, Nova TV made the Croatian TV viewers familiar with reality shows when first showing the American shows such as '' Survivor'' and '' Temptation Island''.
