Vesuvius Records UK
Vesuvius Records was a British independent record label, based in Glasgow, Scotland, between 1995 and 1998. The label signed small local bands. Their first release ''In Spelunca'', was a compilation showcase featuring The Yummy Fur, Lungleg, Sally Skull, Hello Skinny and others. Despite low production value, the record aimed to celebrate new bands from disparate backgrounds. Founded jointly by band members and local artists and activists Pat Crook, Brian MacDougall, and illustrator Marc Baines, the label took care in every aspect of packaging and design often hand-printing and assembling records from their bedroom headquarters. Between 1995 and 1998, they released 18 records in various sizes (7", 10" and 12" vinyl), as well as CD, cassettes, and several comic books, founding a reputation for quality design and packaging with a highly illustrative style. Having launched the careers of several local bands, notably Lungleg, The Yummy Fur and Ganger, in addition to supporting int ...

Independent Record Label
An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Indies release rock, soul, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, reggae, hip hop, and world music. Music appearing on indie labels is often referred to as indie music, or more specifically by genre, such as indie hip-hop. Overview Independent record labels are small companies that produce and distribute records. They are not affiliated with or funded by the three major records labels. According to Sound ...

Half Japanese
Half Japanese is an American art punk band formed by brothers Jad and David Fair around 1975, sometime after the family's relocation to Uniontown, Maryland. Their original instrumentation included a small drum set, which they took turns playing; vocals; and an out-of-tune, distorted guitar. Both Fair brothers sang, although over time Jad moved into the frontman role. As of the last several releases since the 1990s, according to the album and CD credits, the band composes and plays the entirety of the music while Fair, eschewing his role as guitarist from earlier albums, plays almost no guitar but is responsible for the vocals and lyrics, which typically divide into either "love songs or monster songs." The band, still a vital "art punk" unit, has released six albums since 2014 with the same personnel that recorded Hot in 1993. Their last three releases, Why Not?, Invincible and Crazy Hearts have all received four-star reviews from the U.K. magazine, Record Collector, while New ...
