Verónica Alcocer
Verónica Alcocer García (born 26 May 1976) is the current First Lady of Colombia since August 7, 2022, as the wife of President Gustavo Petro. She has law studies, Alcocer has become a voice of the most vulnerable communities. Alcocer is the first wife of a president to have a leading role in the government on par with her husband. Born in Sincelejo, Sucre, where she grew up and later would have a son from a first relationship, named Nicolas, she would later marry Gustavo Petro in 2011, becoming the stepmother of Andres, Nicolas and Andrea, two children from the first and second marriage of Gustavo Petro. Alcocer and her husband also have two daughters together, Sofía and Antonella about whom there is little information. The First Lady of Colombia (First Lady of the Nation) is the title held by the hostess of the House of Nariño, usually the wife of the President of Colombia, president of Colombia, concurrent with the president's term in office. Afro-Colombians or African-Colombians ( es, afrocolombianos, links=no) are Colombians of full or partial sub-Saharan African descent (Blacks, Mulattoes, Pardos, and Zambos). History Africans were enslaved in the early 16th Century in Colombia. They were from various places across the continent, including: modern day Congo, Angola, Gambia, Liberia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Mali. They were forcibly taken to Colombia to replace the Indigenous population, which was rapidly decreasing due to colonialism and genocide. Enslved African people were forced to work in gold mines, on sugar cane plantations, cattle ranches, and large haciendas. African slaves pioneered the extraction of alluvial gold deposits and the growing of sugar cane in the areas that are known in modern times as the departments of Chocó, Antioquia, Cauca, Valle del Cauca, and Nariño in western Colombia. White Savior
The term white savior is a critical description of a white person who is depicted as liberating, rescuing or uplifting non-white people; it is critical in the sense that it describes a pattern in which people of color in economically under-developed nations that are majority non-white are denied agency and are seen as passive recipients of white benevolence. The role is considered a modern-day version of what is expressed in the poem ''The White Man's Burden'' (1899) by Rudyard Kipling. Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego (; born 19 April 1960) is a Colombian economist, politician, and former guerrilla fighter who is the current president of Colombia since 2022. After taking office, Petro was considered by analysts as Colombia's first-ever left-wing president. At 17 years of age, Petro became a member of the guerrilla group 19th of April Movement, which later evolved into the M-19 Democratic Alliance, a political party in which he was elected to be a member of the Chamber of Representatives in the 1991 Colombian parliamentary election. He served as a senator as a member of the Alternative Democratic Pole (PDA) party following the 2006 Colombian parliamentary election with the second-largest vote.
