Castle Of Verzuolo
Verzuolo Castle ( it, Castello di Verzuolo) is a medieval castle in the Piedmont region of Italy, near Verzuolo, Province of Cuneo. It is located around from the city of Saluzzo and from Turin. History The castle was originally built in the 11th century and was modified in its original structure by order of Frederick II in 1377. The successors of Frederick II continued modifying the structure of the building, turning it into the main fortress of the Marquisate of Saluzzo. In 1528, Giovanni Ludovico, Marquess of Saluzzo, was imprisoned in the castle. Alessandra Boarelli
Alessandra Boarelli (Turin, 1838 – Verzuolo, 1908) was an Italian mountaineer and, in 1864, became the first woman to summit Monviso in the Alps. Biography She was born in Turin, Italy, the daughter of Felice Re. After marrying Emilio-Giovanni Boarelli, a man from a noble family, as well as mayor of Cuneo, she moved to nearby Verzuolo where the couple had three daughters, Isabella, Luisa and Clemente-Maria (born 1870). The family lived close to the French border in western Italy, located in the Italian region of Piedmont. The area is dominated by Monte Viso (commonly shortened by Italians to Monviso), the highest mountain of the Cottian Alps, the southwestern portion of the Alps. Boarelli first attempted to climb Monviso in 1863, hoping to beat a similar attempt by a team headed by Quintino Sella by a few days, but she had to turn back because of bad weather. Flavio Briatore
Flavio Briatore (; born 12 April 1950) is an Italian businessman. He started his career as a restaurant manager and insurance salesman in Italy. Briatore was convicted in Italy on several fraud charges in the 1980s, receiving two prison sentences, though the convictions were later extinguished by an amnesty. Briatore set up a number of successful Benetton franchises as a fugitive in the Virgin Islands and the United States. In 1990, he was promoted by Luciano Benetton to manage the Benetton Formula One racing team, which became Renault F1 in 2002. From 2007 to 2011, he was part-owner and chairman of London's Queens Park Rangers F.C. Cesare Segre
Cesare Segre (4 April 1928 – 16 March 2014) was an Italian philologist, semiotics, semiotician and literary critic of Jewish descent, and the Director of the ''Texts and Textual Traditions Research Centre of the Institute for Advanced Studies of Pavia'' (IUSS). Segre was born in Verzuolo, Province of Cuneo. He lived and studied in Turin, where he was awarded his degree in 1950, a pupil of Benvenuto Terracini and famous uncle Santorre Debenedetti.
