''Very Metal Noise Pollution'' is an EP released by British Grebo band Pop Will Eat Itself between their albums '' This Is the Day...This Is the Hour...This Is This!'' and ''Cure for Sanity''. It was released in a very large range of different CD, vinyl, and cassette formats all containing the identical track listing. The EP reached 45 on the Official UK Charts. "PWEI-zation" is a fast-paced track which didn't appear on an album until the re-release of ''This Is the Day...'', however, in addition to ''Very Metal Noise Pollution'', it also appeared on the 1992 single "Karmadrome". "92°F" appears on ''Cure for Sanity'' in a remixed form featuring Sylvia Tella on lead vocals. Later, it was released as its own single, but this version was not present on the single, which featured remixes by Boilerhouse. Pop Will Eat Itself
Pop Will Eat Itself are an English alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Stourbridge in the West Midlands of England with members from Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. Initially known as a grebo act, they changed style to incorporate sample-driven indie and industrial rock. Graham Crabb describes their sound as "electronic, punk, alternative hip-hop, hybrid music for fucking, fighting & smoking cigars". Their highest- charting single was the 1993 top-ten hit "Get the Girl! Kill the Baddies!". After initially disbanding in 1996, and having a brief reformation in 2005, they issued their first release in more than five years in 2010. ''Poppiecock'' is the second EP by British grebo band Pop Will Eat Itself, released in the same year as the previous, ''The Poppies Say GRRrrr!''. The musical style remains similar to that of the first EP, with short distorted-guitar-driven tracks with simple melodies and rhythms. This style continued until Graham Crabb's movement from a drumming position to lead vocals in mid-1987. Two versions of the EP were released: the original 7" version and a 12" version which contained all of the songs from ''The Poppies Say GRRrrr!'' on the B-side, in addition to the Poppiecock songs on side A. Grebo (music)
Grebo (or grebo rock) was a short-lived subgenre of alternative rock that incorporated influences from punk rock, electronic dance music, hip hop and psychedelia. The scene occupied the period in the late 1980s and early 1990s in the United Kingdom before the popularisation of Britpop and grunge. The genre and its attributes were largely absorbed into industrial rock, which would emerge after the sub-genre's demise in the late 1980s, which then led to the development of industrial metal in the 1990s. History and etymology The word ''grebo'' was originally used as a slang term for bikers and rock music fans with long hair. "This Is the Day" is a song written by Matt Johnson and originally released as a single by his band The The on 2 September 1983. It reached number 71 in the UK Singles Chart. A version of the song was included on the band's debut album ''Soul Mining'', released in October 1983. A re-recorded version of the song, re-titled "That Was the Day", was released as the lead track on the ''Dis-Infected'' EP in 1993. The EP reached number 17 in the singles chart. ''Cure for Sanity'' (also known by its full title ''The Pop Will Eat Itself Cure for Sanity'') is the third studio album by English rock band Pop Will Eat Itself, released on 22 October 1990 by RCA Records. Upon its release, the album entered the UK Albums Chart and stayed there for two weeks, peaking at number 33, and re-entered the chart when it was re-released in July 1991, staying there for one week at number 58. In Australia, the album peaked at number 51 and spent six weeks on the ARIA top 100 albums chart. Sylvia Tella (born Silifatu Mornii Wehabie Tella in 1961) is a British lovers rock singer, who after working as a backing band vocalist for Boney M embarked on a successful solo career, releasing her first album in 1981. She had a top 40 hit in 1989 in collaboration with the Blow Monkeys and again in 1990/1991 with Pop Will Eat Itself. Biography Born in 1961 in Manchester, England to Nigerian parents, Tella's career began as a part of the Black Beautiful Circus. A backing band that supported Boney M. during their live concerts in the period 1977 – 1979. She was briefly part of a quartet "Anderson" who sang at the 1979 Irish final for the Eurovision Song Contest along with Ian Campbel, Sally Kemp and Alan Brown with the song "Goodbye". ''Record Mirror'' was a British weekly music newspaper between 1954 and 1991 for pop fans and record collectors. Launched two years after the ''NME'', it never attained the circulation of its rival. The first UK album chart was published in ''Record Mirror'' in 1956, and during the 1980s it was the only consumer music paper to carry the official UK singles and UK albums charts used by the BBC for Radio 1 and ''Top of the Pops'', as well as the US ''Billboard'' charts. The Blow Monkeys are a British new wave/sophisti-pop band that formed in 1981. The first single, "Live Today Love Tomorrow," was released in 1982. They subsequently enjoyed a successful career with several hit singles and albums across the 1980s before splitting up at the beginning of the 1990s. Their first hit song was "Digging Your Scene," which hit No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 14 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in August 1986.
