''Versiones'' is the eleventh studio album by Peruvian singer-songwriter Gian Marco released by 11 y 6 Discos in 2013. The album includes several covers of classic songs in Spanish, Portuguese, and one in English. It was his first album to include a song recorded in English. Promotion The album was first released in stores in Mexico on May 27, 2013, and on that same day Gian Marco was performing at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City where he would also perform again a few days later on May 30 and 31 with the latter date including 2 shows in the same night once at 7:30 p.m. and the other at 10:00 p.m. right after. Commercial performance The album had great success throughout Latin America, entered the Billboard Jazz Albums charts, and was certified gold in Perú. Gian Marco Javier Zignago Alcóver (born 17 August 1970) is a Peruvian musician and actor. He has won the Latin Grammy Award for the Best Singer-Songwriter Album three times. First in 2005 for his album ''Resucitar'', in 2011 for his album ''Días Nuevos'', and in 2012 for his album ''20 Años''. Gian Marco was named UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Peru. "Come Fly with Me" is a 1958 popular song composed by Jimmy Van Heusen, with lyrics by Sammy Cahn. "Come Fly with Me" was written for Frank Sinatra, and was the title track of his 1958 album of the same name. The song sets the tone for the rest of the album, describing adventures in exotic locales, in Bombay, Peru and Acapulco Bay as the Jet Age began. "La flor de la canela", commonly translated to the English language as "The Cinnamon Flower", is a Creole waltz composed by the Peruvian singer-songwriter Chabuca Granda. The song was first recorded in 1950 by the musica criolla trio Los Morochucos. However, it would be the 1953 version recorded by Los Chamas, another musica criolla ensemble, that would bring the song and Chabuca Granda widespread notability in Spain and Latin America with over 600 versions of the song being available. Since then, the song has become an unofficial anthem for Lima, the capital of Peru. ''20 Años'' is a 2012 original album by Peruvian singer Gian Marco. The disc won a Latin Grammy Award in the best singer songwriter category in 2012. This CD was made to celebrate 20 years of artistic life. There are 20 songs, 18 of which are old but they were remastered with a change and two unreleased songs "Invisible" and "En Otra Vida". The song "Invisible" was composed by Gian Marco and Amaury Gutierrez. For this album, Gian Marco received three nominations at the 13th Annual Latin Grammy Awards: Best Singer-Songwriter Album and Song of the Year (for "Invisible"). Gian Marco won the first category. The 14th Annual Latin Grammy Awards was held on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. This was the sixth time that Latin Grammys has been held at this location. The main telecast was broadcast on Univision at 8:00 PM EST. The nominations were announced on September 25, 2013. Javier Garza, Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas and Carlos Vives led the nominations with five nods each. Miguel Bosé was honored as the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year on November 20, the day prior to the Latin Grammy Awards. James Van Heusen (born Edward Chester Babcock; January 26, 1913 – February 6, 1990) was an American composer. He wrote songs for films, television and theater, and won an Emmy and four Academy Awards for Best Original Song.
