Claude Verret
Claude Verret (born April 20, 1963) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He was drafted in the eighth round, 163rd overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Biography Verret was born in Lachine, Quebec, but grew up in Quebec City, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1975 and 1976 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Beauport, Quebec. In the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he tallied 462 points in 200 games over three seasons with the Trois-Rivières Draveurs, winning the Jean Beliveau Trophy in 1981–82 as the league's leading scorer. He scored another 183 points in 141 games during his first two seasons in the American Hockey League with the Sabres' farm club, the Rochester Americans, and won the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award in 1983–84 as the league's top rookie. Douglas Pearce, known professionally as Douglas P (born 27 April 1956), is an English folk musician, record label owner, photographer and actor who is best known for his neofolk project Death in June. Pearce was born in Sheerwater in Woking, Surrey, and currently resides in Australia, where he has lived since the mid 90s. Early life Pearce was born on 27 April 1956, and grew up in Sheerwater, suburb of Woking in Surrey which he described as a "white, working-class ghetto", to a father who worked as a courier for the military, and had served in World War II. Both of his parents were English, though his mother claimed Scots-Irish ancestry. His father died of a heart attack at age 56, when Pearce was 14. Pearce grew up in what he describes as "a very militaristic environment, surrounded by war", and says that he "had a natural attraction to war". Joe Verret
Joe Verret (11 December 1945 – 30 March 2010) was an American Trotskyite who worked in civil rights in the South in the 1960s. Born in New Orleans, Verret was involved in founding the Spartacist League (US) in 1966, serving on the central committee. Prior to the formation of the Spartacist League, Verret was part of the American Socialist Organising Committee, which had split from the Socialist Party. Joe's Trotskyite work in the 1960s centred on New Orleans, involving the Southern Student Organizing Committee, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and civil rights protests. Verret's activities were an element of the Louisiana Joint Legislative Committee on Un-American Activities Report 9, on "The Spartacist League and Certain Other Communist Activities in South Louisiana."
