Veronica Strong
Veronica Strong (born 1938) is a British actress, best known for her roles in television series of the sixties and seventies including '' It's Dark Outside'' (1965), '' Virgin of the Secret Service'' (1968) and ''Children of the Stones'' (1977). She made her debut in the TV series ''Studio E'' in 1957 and went on to appear in many popular programmes of the 1960s and 70s including ''No Hiding Place'', '' The Baron'', ''Adam Adamant Lives!'', ''Armchair Theatre'', '' The Avengers'', ''Doomwatch'' and ''Dixon of Dock Green''. In 1965 she appeared as Claire Martin in the second series of ''It's Dark Outside'' and had recurring roles in ''An Enemy of the State'' (1965) and ''United!'' (1966). Eastry
Eastry is a civil parish in Kent, England, around southwest of Sandwich. It was voted "Kent Village of the Year 2005". The name is derived from the Old English ''Ēast-rige'', meaning "eastern province" (c.f. '' Sūþ-rige'' "southern province"), also recorded as ''Ēastregē'', from ''ēasterra gē'' (lit. "more easterly area"). Historical legends Eastry lies on the Roman road north from Dover to Richborough Castle. It was here that a royal palace of the Saxon kings of Kent stood. One of Kent's oldest legends concerns King Ecgberht of Kent and the murder of his young cousins, Æthelred and Æthelberht, within the palace walls. According to the legend, the royal residence was passed to the priory of Christchurch in Canterbury as penance for the crime. ''Armchair Theatre'' is a British television drama anthology series of single plays that ran on the ITV network from 1956 to 1974. It was originally produced by ABC Weekend TV. Its successor Thames Television took over from mid-1968. The Canadian-born producer Sydney Newman was in charge of ''Armchair Theatre'' between September 1958 and December 1962, during what is generally considered to have been its best era, and produced 152 episodes. ''United!'' is a British television series which was produced by the BBC between 1965 and 1967, and was broadcast twice-weekly on BBC1. The series followed the fortunes of a fictional second division football team, Brentwich United. The football scenes were filmed on the grounds of Stoke City with Jimmy Hill acting as a technical advisor, and the efforts to achieve authenticity saw the show being criticised by the then management of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who complained that the series was based on their team. ''United!'' was not a success, and was cancelled after two series. The programme was generally considered to be too soft to appeal to male viewers, and too male-oriented for the female soap opera audience. ''Dixon of Dock Green'' was a BBC police procedural television series about daily life at a fictional London police station, with the emphasis on petty crime, successfully controlled through common sense and human understanding. It ran from 1955 to 1976. The central character, George Dixon, first appeared in the film ''The Blue Lamp''.
