Elisabeta Bostan
Elisabeta Bostan (born 1 March 1931) is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. She directed 25 films between 1956 and 1991. Biography Born in Buhuși, Bacău County, she attended the in Piatra Neamț, where she staged her first theater production at age 14. She then went to Bucharest, where she enrolled in the Institute of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale, graduating in 1954. She made her debut in 1958 with two short films, "Trei jocuri românești" and "Cloșca cu puii de aur". Bostan taught at the Institute of Theatre and Film, where she served for a period as Dean. She received prizes at festivals in Moscow, Tehran, Cannes, Venice, Gijón, and Tours. In 2009 she received the Gopo Award for Lifetime Achievement. Manuela Hărăbor (born 2 April 1968 in Bucharest) is a Romanian actress. She debuted in 1972 as a 4-years old girl in the film ''Veronica''. This is a list of submissions to the 46th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 46th Academy Awards, twenty films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. East Germany and Finland made their debuts in the competition. The bolded titles were the five nominated films, which came from France, West Germany, Israel, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Cornel Patrichi
Cornel Patrichi (; 1 April 1944 – 5 April 2016) was a Romanian ballet dancer, choreographer, and actor. Biography Born in Bucharest in 1944, he attended School 18, near Piața Romană, and then completed high school (with specialty in choreography) in 1962. Upon graduation, he was hired as ballet dancer at the Constantin Tănase Theater by his uncle, Nicolae Patrichi, the musical director of the theater. Starting in 1972 he was for ten years ballet dancer at the Fantasio Theater in Constanța. He was married to Cornelia Patrichi, a ballerina, with whom he had a son, Alexandru. The two moved in 1987 to Italy, where they founded in Tuscany a ballet school, "Dance Studio Patrichi". In 1999 the couple returned to Romania, though their son remained in Italy. In 2004, Patrichi was awarded the , Knight rank by Romanian President Ion Iliescu. Patrichi died in Bucharest in 2016 after a long battle with cancer, and was buried at Pipera Cemetery, in Voluntari. George Mihăiță (; born 23 September 1948 in Moreni) is a Romanian actor, director and philanthropist. Renowned for his distinctive voice, Mihăiță has appeared in over 70 films and is regarded as a Romanian film icon.
