Vernon Johnson (American Football)
Vernon Johnson (born April 17, 1992) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Midwestern State University, Southwestern College, and Texas A&M University–Commerce. High school career Johnson attended Brewer High School in Fort Worth. During his senior season in 2009, he had 76 receptions for 1,006 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also lettered in basketball as well as track & field. College career Johnson began his college career at Midwestern State University; he redshirted in 2010 and caught 6 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown as a reserve receiver in 2011. In 2012, he transferred to Southwestern College, where he caught 49 passes for 1,082 yards and 15 touchdowns. Texas A&M–Commerce Lions Football
The Texas A&M–Commerce Lions football team (formerly the East Texas Lions and East Texas State Lions) is the college football program representing Texas A&M University–Commerce. The school competes in the Southland Conference (SLC) in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Lance Zierlein
Lance Zierlein is a sports analyst and commentator. He has hosted sports talk shows on KILT 610, KBME 790, KGOW 1560 AM, and KFNC 97.5 FM in Houston, Texas Career Zierlein graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1988. Following high school, he attended Tulane University. After college, Zierlein created "Pigskin Sports" which was a sports analysis company, and began to appear on radio stations around the country including in markets such as Houston, Baton Rouge and Miami. Zierlein was also a weekly football expert for the weekend show on Prime Sports Radio. He began his career working at 610 KILT on a weekend show called "Fast Break with Nate" along with his partner Nate Griffin. Bruce Ellington (born August 22, 1991) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at South Carolina and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The 2015 NFL Draft was the 80th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. It took place in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre and in Grant Park, from April 30 to May 2. The previous fifty NFL drafts (since 1965) had been held in New York City. NFLPA Collegiate Bowl
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is a post-season college football all-star game for NFL draft-eligible college players, held annually in January. The event was founded in 2012 by the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). Players predominantly, but not exclusively, are from teams within the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The first six editions of the game were played in Carson, California, at the venue previously known as Home Depot Center and later as StubHub Center. The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level although, beginning in 1957, high school- athletes in football began being honored with All-America status, which then carried-over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) is a private Baptist university in Marshall, Texas. It is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas (Southern Baptist Convention). History ETBU is located on the site of the former Van Zandt Farm at the highest altitude in Harrison County.
