Verners Kohs
Verners Edgards Kohs (born 21 May 1997) is a Latvian professional basketball player for Czarni Słupsk of the Polish Basketball League. Standing at , he plays as power forward. He is a three-time Latvian League champion with VEF Riga. Professional career Kohs came through the youth ranks of BK Ventspils, before joining VEF Rīga in 2013. He made his debut for VEF's senior team during the 2014–15 season. In January 2015, Kohs moved to Belgium, joining BC Oostende for a try-out, followed by a year in Spain, in which he mostly saw action for El Olivar Zaragoza in the LEB Silver, while appearing in one game for Liga ACB outfit CAI Zaragoza. He moved to Prague in 2016, joining the Get Better Academy which competes in the country's second tier. In July 2017, he was signed by Obradoiro CAB of the Spanish Liga ACB and was then sent to LEB Oro side Club Ourense Baloncesto on loan. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. The BNXT League, for sponsorship reasons the betFirst BNXT League, is a professional basketball league in Belgium and the Netherlands. The league is the first tier in both the Dutch and Belgian system, replacing the Dutch Basketball League, DBL and Pro Basketball League, PBL. The Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) is a professional men's club basketball league that has been organised in Italy since 1920. Serie A is organised by Lega Basket, which is regulated by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP). It is the highest-tier level of the Italian league system.
