Vern Graham
Vernon Austin Graham (August 6, 1924 – March 22, 2010) was a Canadian football player with the Calgary Stampeders. A native of Calgary, Graham joined his hometown Stamps in 1947. He made the unfortunate mistake of sitting out the 1948 season, missing a Grey Cup championship. He returned in 1949 and made a trip to the Grey Cup final (a defeat to the Montreal Alouettes,) and was also an all-star and won the Dave Dryburgh Memorial Trophy The Dave Dryburgh Memorial Trophy is a Canadian Football League trophy, given to the top scorer in the West Division. Calgary Stampeders
The Calgary Stampeders are a professional Canadian football team based in Calgary, Alberta. The Stampeders compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The club plays its home games at McMahon Stadium and are the third-oldest active franchise in the CFL. The Stampeders were officially founded in 1945, although there were clubs operating in Calgary since the 1890s. The Dave Dryburgh Memorial Trophy is a Canadian Football League trophy, given to the top scorer in the West Division. Unlike other CFL trophies, there is no East Division counterpart, though the East Division teams were eligible in the 1995 CFL season, when the final year of the three year expansion to the United States resulted in the West / East divisions being replaced by an all-Canadian (Dryburgh Trophy eligible) North Division and an all-American South Division. The Grey Cup (french: Coupe Grey) is both the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the trophy awarded to the victorious team playing in the namesake championship of professional Canadian football. The Montreal Alouettes (Canadian French, French: Les Alouettes de Montréal) are a professional Canadian football team based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1946, the team has folded and been revived twice.
